Elves are the epitome of grace, elegance, and sometimes, arrogance. Also known as the Firstborn (Aeonesti), they once ruled all of Creacia as a unified people until the First Ruination, when elven blood was corrupted by Lamashtu to form the Orc Hordes. In the aftermath, the gods divided the Elves into five different peoples—the Elenesti, haughty High Elves who prefer to live in the rarified air of cloud cities to practice elven arcana; the Ceralnesti, or Wood Elves, the more pragmatic of the five who engage the most with other peoples and call the forest and wooded vales their homes; the Seirenesti, Sea Elves who shun the surface world in favor of aquatic forests and underwater cities; the Jhaeranesti, Wild Elves of unpredictable nature who live freely in the giant Heartwood trees and thrive off of Fey Soulveins; and the Drow, or Dark Elves, the most vicious and spiteful of all the elves, who live in great caverns of the Underdark. Although there are enclaves from all the families (especially the High and Wood Elves) scattered throughout Creacia, all five have made their main homes in Daenor, the ancestral domain of the Ancient Elves. Despite their vast differences in culture and intermittent skirmishes and wars with one another, the leaders of the Five Families (Kethtali'sen) come together at the Kethtal once every five years on the Isle of Nen on Nenlas Lake, the heart of Daenor, where they debate how to prevent the next Ruination.
