The Cult of the Cataclysm

"Of all the groups that wish to violently replace the current world order with their own twisted version of society, the Cataclysts are by far the most devoted as well as the most deranged. Only their lack of organizational skills, intelligent leadership, financial wherewithal, and coherent and compelling message are hindering their advance. If they ever fix those four things, we're all doomed."   -Korrl di Jurricort, Investigator Principle of The Chain, Discussions on Threats to Creation, p 12
The Cult of the Cataclysm is a loose organization of zealots who believe the Great God is slowly destroying his own creation. They point to the Cataclysm of The Shattered as the first strike in an ongoing war between God and man. Other than that guiding precept, none of the various groupings of adherents agree on anything else.   Cataclysts are often thought of as the prime duality that stands against The Order of the Eight, the primary religion across all of Creation. However, since any attempted count of their numbers comes up to less than a few hundred throughout the entire world they are seldom given any real consideration other than as a sideshow attraction.   This is not to say the Cataclysts have not had major impacts on local events.  Both the Massacre of Lasskyr City, in which a landslide was intentionally started and killed 400 people, and the Burning Toad Riots of c.y. 9820 were confirmed to be the work of Cataclysts.  Also, shortly after the Rennon Wars of Consolidation there was a Chaos Agent who threatened to plunge the world into open warfare again.*  Although never personally identified before being immolated on the steps of the Grand Temple in the city of Kyro that Chaos Agent was widely assumed to be a member of the Cult of the Cataclysm. Therefore, a general rule amongst all the peoples of Creation is to stamp them out whenever they are found.     *See Reflections on a Life Lived Too Long, Chom Biitulaay, Strakepress, ch 11, p 202
