Gangrel Domain

Veils & Truth

To mortals, the Farm Ward is merely a place to grow their food and raise their horses and beasts of burden. Those that wish to avoid the suffocating populous of the inner walls of Ptolus City dwell here as well, using the Farmers Triangle to peddle their goods. Traders from all around come here to barter and they make for an excellent change of palate now and then. The mortals take comfort in knowing that they avoid the inner city rampant crime without truly knowing what they relinquish themselves to in their naivety: us. Pride is a common theme throughout the food that lives here. They brag about the sizable plots of land that they own or boast about the size of their largest hog. In their vainglory, we find opportunities to keep the rabble in check. If one such mortal grows bold, we lay waste to the very things that bring them that arrogance. We wouldn't want our food growing bold now, would we?

To our clan, the Farm Ward is the Gangrel Domain, a hunting ground ripe with game to prey upon. Within no other domain do our brothers and sisters have the luxury of hunting the way that we hunt. Many must relinquish themselves to constantly hiding and maneuvering through crowds of people confined between the narrow buildings, trash, sewers and the city walls. Freedom is the most important virtue to the Gangrel Clan which allows us to not be held down or kept to one place as we hunt, roam and rest. And when we rest we are much more elusive in that way, as the very land beneath our feet opens its arms to give us rest and protection from the day. Our kindred wander the roads at night or seek out taverns where drunkards have wandered too far from the street pyres, feasting upon them.

Veins

The main roads to watch for food are the Emperor's Road, the South Road, and the City Road. The City Road is riskier than the others, but is often quite rewarding, as it is almost completely unguarded all the way up to the Tent City that clings to the outer walls of the Ptolus. For novice kindred, however, the South Road is a fine starting place to hunt game such as farmers or traders. The Emperor's Road is where one can intercept merchant caravans for food that is far more exotic. Otherwise, abandoned buildings and barns are all along each road and serve as excellent places to grab a quick "bite" or hide during daylight hours. Farmers Triangle and the Half-Moon Field are easily the busiest part of the entirety of the domain making these and excellent place to "dance" or hunt for the next dinner.

"We do well to feed upon those that are disliked so that the guard and the people alike feel less inclined to search for them. A bitter and vile person is nothing more than a lamb to the slaughter."

Lords & Leaders

Elder Morlayne is not just the lord of the Gangrel Domain, but a family elder tasked with leading the kindred of his clan dispatched to Ptolus. Morlayne volunteered to leave his progeny and family behind on the world of night to do the will of Vecna. In cooperation with the four other clan elders they formed the Council of Elders in place of having an appointed prince. Elder Morlayne waveringly leads the Gangrel as he constantly attempts to maintain an air of pride amongst his kindred.
The elder seldom ever raises his voice even during tense and infuriating situations. His patience is unlimited but that does not invite one to test such a claim. Morlayne, despite his clan's reputation, is a vampire of terrible learning and contained fury. If you doubt either his dedication or his determination you have to understand the task given to him by the Antediluvian Elders and Vecna before leaving for Ptolus City. Morlayne is the lead on the Elven Plague plague project started on the World of Night, a project set to infect and wipe out the elven population of Praemal.

"You would do well not to grow so slovenly as to feast upon a farm animal, kindred, as it pollutes the mind and promotes our reputation of being savages."

He is not a bespoke person, yet his clan seems to linger on each and every word when he chooses to speak. Farmers are often something the Gangrel kindred struggle with and, as such, Morlayne understands while discouraging such activity as it lowers the standards and bruises the reputation of the Gangrel.

Sanctuary

The only truly safe place is our domain sanctum. The mortals refer to it as the Field of Ruin. The farmer who once inhabited the house witnessed one of the Elder's rituals and it drove him quite mad. The guard warn people to avoid the abandoned farmstead at all costs, as some sort of "cosmological entity" inhabits the place. This rumor serves as our greatest line of defense and oftentimes lures foolhardy adventures right to us. Besides the Field of Ruin, the clan often takes to a few abandoned farmsteads, rooms at the Bloody Boots, and decrepit buildings during the day hours to rendezvous and plan their next hunts. Such places are marked with Cacophony insignias to identify that the building is safe. Most Gangrel can sink into the very ground to sleep through the day.

A Dance Before Dinner

The lives or unlives of the Kindred weaving among each other and even mortals is known as their requiem. It is common for the Kindred to use safe terms within earshot of mortals. Words like "dance" represent their hunt for blood, and "eat" or "drink" for their feeding. There are a few places in the Gangrel Domain where it is safer to dance and eat without arousing suspicion. The Splatterhouse Arena, however, is often a choice place to eat without anyone being any the wiser. Wounded or dying combatants often have no idea what is happening and, by the time the feeding is over, they either perish or have no recollection of what happened. The best places to eat would be within the Summer Nymph or the Velvet Glove Brothel brothels, as everyone tends to mind their own business and coin quiets questions. There are plenty of good hunting places in the Gangrel Domain besides the arena and brothels. The Drunken Mage Brewhouse serves as an excellent place to select weary travelers before or after they reach the taphouse. The Weeping Gnoll Tavern is a prime location as well for similar reasons. Perhaps the best place to feed, however, is the Tent City. Not a soul there particularly cares if someone goes missing in the night. We take great care to avoid the Temple Farm of Melann and the Temple of Balance, as tipping our fangs would be unwise. Avoiding the City Watch Guard Station is also a must, as we do not wish to draw unnecessary attention to our clan and people.

Whispers

The Bloody Boots Inn acts as a location for other Kindred clans to leave Cacophony messages for the Gangrel. This very crowded inn provides easy access and more importantly, it never closes.

What is a ...
Kindred Domain?

Kindred Domains are a critical element of Vampire society, defining a particular area within the city that is claimed by a specific clan or covenant. Kindred use Domains to conceal and safeguard themselves, while also gathering information, monitoring mortal behavior, and satisfying their insatiable hunger for blood. Operating within the shadows of mortal society, the Kindred Domains are concealed by the Masquerade, and serve as the backdrop for their intricate courtly dramas, intrigue, and political machinations that flow like a river among the vampire elite.
