The Silver Tongues

When Phillipa Augustine and Jacob Augustine's first born daughter vanished, it was not a simple matter to settle. There were servants, footmen, chefs, nannies, guards, all kinds of people that were around their daughter every day.  What were they supposed to tell the public, the truth? Tell them that witch showed up at their door to make good on a deal and whisked their daughter away? Of course not!  They lied. They lied their royal asses off.     The official word was that their daughter had fallen ill suddenly.  She fought valiantly, but ultimate lost the fight.  A funeral was arranged and the public were allowed to pay their respects.  The ceremony was beautiful and the public's condolences were delivered to the royal family.    Then the buzzing began.   It wasn't long before the gossip reached the royals' ears that their daughter had not died, but had simply vanished, with no search or alarm being raised.  What could it possibly mean?    The king and queen had to think fast, so they sought the advice of their most trusted advisors and it was agreed that a task force, named the Silver Tongues would be enlisted to enforce the unofficial gag order on speaking of the girl's disappearance.  If anyone was caught spreading the lies of the girl's disappearance, swift justice would be visited upon them for staining the royal reputation.     Since word had to have gotten out from within the castle, the Silver Tongues began within the castle walls and the employees were the first to be shaken down. It was paramount to find out who had loose lips and spoken out.  It was a known, mandatory, occupational responsibility to not allow any of the royal business leave the walls.  Since it had, there would be consequences.   Their efforts then made it to the streets and the town outside the castle.  Nothing was posted on the subject, but those who were at the tip of the conspiracy spear sudden found themselves worse for wear.  It wouldn't be a public spectacle, as that would only fan the flames.    The Silver Tongues did their best to keep the royal secret just that, and for the most part they were effective.  It did not stop stories such as A Quick Mourning Dive from finding their way into folklore, but it did enough to stop riots in the streets.

This is not so much as an organization article, this is a story. A small story inside your world that needed to be told.

Every story starts with a dream, so start dreaming
