Fading Fever
Fading Fever was a sickness that plagued Yosmar after an attack in Habersbol in 13E 58Y.
The sickness started to show signs initially after an attack by the Bronze Basilisk, a pirate ship hailing from Kamver Cay.
Infected individuals first notice small patches of skin turning a sickly green or brown, accompanied by a foul odor. These patches slowly expand, causing the skin to rot and peel away.
As the plague progresses, it attacks the internal organs, causing severe pain, nausea, and vomiting. The infected behind to emit a noticeable odor of rot and decay.
Victims of the plague also suffer from hallucinations and nightmarish visions of decaying landscapes, and monstrous, rotting creatures, believed to be from the Infinite Layers of the Abyss.
In the final stages, the rot consumes the body entirely, leading to a horrifying and painful death. Corpses left untreated rise as shambling zombies, spreading the plague further.
Transmission of the sickness spreads through physical contact with the infected individuals and contaminated surfaces, however, there have been more than half of the victims who contracted it at random.
While Fading Fever does not have a foreseeable cure, there have been several remedies to lessen the pain and prolong the lives of the victims. Clerics and healers of Habersbol have used both divine intervention and herbal remedies. Purification Rituals have been proven ineffective.
The outbreak of Fading Fever caused widespread panic. The Council of Envoys imposed quarantine restrictions and mobilized healers to combat the plague. Temples dedicated to gods of healing and protection worked tirelessly to treat the infected and prevent further spread.
