Spectre's Rot

Spectre's Rot is a once rumored phenomena turned real world horror over the course of the Eight Era in Creostrana, the first instance of it was recorded in Domovina , killing former King Aywin Sylcaran. 
The victim's soul and body separate but continue to move in unison. Without a soul the body rapidly degenerates and decays over the course of as short as a year to as long as a decade, however wherever the flesh forms holes or rips the ghost of the person continues to stand. This continues until the body has completely decomposed and the ghost is left to wander the earth, unable to pass into an afterlife. Most victims lose mobility by the end of the first year, and pass away before the end of year two. 
This disease currently has no confirmed cause, but some village shaman and priests believe it can be a rarely contracted via the undead who have lingering souls and have not moved on to the afterlife. 
The longest occurence of Spectre's Rot's infesting a person was a few weeks short of a decade. The victim was a Goliath male named Zauva the Tribewatcher, a citizen of @The Pure Forest Clan, a goliath and giant clan residing in the forests outside Kalpeda in Yosmar. Zauva was a protector of their tribe, and deemed a Champion of Mielikki in 11E. 
No cures have been found for this disease, including by magical means like a "Greater Restoration" spell, however, there are public medical tests showing the application of holy water and nightshade leaves to holes in the flesh decreases the speed of the holes tearing wider.
