A war with a serpentine race.
While exploring the caves in the Arcane Stratum, an exploration group was attacked by some large serpentine creatures. Only one member of the group returned to report the incident and died of poison soon after. Soldiers were sent to find the creatures, instead they found an entire settlement. The soldiers returned to report back, but were followed by two dozen creatures who kidnapped several people and took them back to their settlement. This kicked off a long siege of the settlement, it would last 35 cycles and eventually the soldiers would break down the barriers and strike at the settlement.
The Trap
As the soldiers entered the settlement, they were bombarded with stones as the cavern collapsed killing over 150 soldiers instantly. The survivors were then attacked from behind as they attempted to retreat. The Crevice army was routed completely with no survivors. Over 500 soldiers were lost.
The Poison Path
Another army found a new path in that direction and attempted to find another way into the settlement area. They encountered several caves full of bright flowers growing on the cave walls. As they rested that night, many woke up with terrible rashes that started to eat into their skin. Most of the army would not make it back or would die soon after.
The Upper Hand
With the help of Shadow Elf Scouts, a safe path to the settlement was found. Two armies were sent, one to directly assault the barriers again and another through the new path. Crevice wins a great battle and pushes the serpentine creatures further back. They continued to push forward and took over several outposts and other settlements. The army laid siege to a massive settlement for 85 cycles before the creatures finally requested to talk about peace.
Peace Agreement
The army would occupy the city and learn about the culture of the new Serpents. All children will be taught of the Cynosure and when of age they will be transported to Crevice to live. A Grotto in Crevice is created for them to live and work. Current adults will finish their lives here under occupation. After 50 years, the settlement will be abandoned and destroyed.
