Trade & Commerce

General Trade

Trade and commerce isessential parts of life in Croi Amhram, and they play an important role in the development of society.   One of the most important commodities in trade is salt. Salt is used for preserving food and is a valuable trade item, as it is not readily available in all parts of the world. Salt is often obtained from coastal areas, where salt is produced through the evaporation of seawater.   Another important trade item is wool. Sheep were abundant in Croi Amhran regions, and wool is used to make clothing and other textiles. Croi Amhran is known for high-quality woolen goods, which were in demand throughout the continent.   Metals were also important trade items in Amhranian society. Iron, gold, and silver were used to make weapons, jewelry, and other valuable items. Croi Amhran craftsmen were skilled metalworkers, and their weapons and armor were highly prized by other peoples.   Trade is often conducted through a system of bartering, where goods and services were exchanged without the use of currency. However, in some regions, precious coins, known as Torcs, are used for trade, particularly in areas that had contact with cultures from across the sea.   The Amhranians also engaged in long-distance trade, with goods and ideas being exchanged across vast distances.

Trading a Sentence

Warriors, gamblers and the desperate would undertake in the most dangerous of trades, trading that of an oath.  One of the most rich currencies was to trade a sentence by declaring an oath to someone to state a sentence to place bonds on someone.   Example:  "I place bonds upon you to protect my life for no less than 1 year"   It is told that the Tuatha De Danann, confident in their ability, would often gamble a sentence in exchange for great boons, weapons and magical items.
