House Adra
House Adra is one of the founding houses of the Empire, in fact technically it would be the founding house, as the first Empress was Adra sio’Spersleagh. As such House Adra views the Empire with a great deal of possessive protectiveness, at all times supporting the Emperor and the maintenance of the Empire, even when it is not their turn to Lead the Dance. House Adra perceives nearly every action taken in terms of how it benefits the Empire, no matter how narrow or jaundiced a view it takes to get to that position. Therefore nobles of House Adra often have a condescending manner that they see as noblesse oblige and members of other Houses often take as damnable superiority. This reality is enhanced by House Adra’s focus and emphasis on military might through all means, martial and sorcerous, which means that even when they are far from leading, they are always a force to be reckoned with. Service in the House armies is mandatory, as is a tour of service in either the Imperial Army or Imperial Guard, such that none in House Adra may command at higher than the squad level without having completed their Imperial Obligation. The linkage of service with command creates a manner of stewardship in the best cases, and technical obligation meeting to seize power in the worst.
One thing that sets House Adra apart from the other Houses is their stance towards the Yrchvolkn. House Adra has openly embraced them and, while stopping short of granting full citizenship in the Empire, or membership in the House, they have actively pursued oaths of fealty from Yrchvolkn to join the yeomanry of the House, going so far as forming full units of Yrchvolkn troops with Yrchvolkn commanders. As such if there is any of the Great Houses that can claim loyalty from the Yrchvolkn of the Empire, it is Adra. The recent agitation by the Yrchvolkn for citizenship rights has revealed a fracture within the House, with some quietly welcoming the idea and others openly opposing it.
Members of House Adra often incorporate elements of their service uniforms and regalia in their daily or courtly attire, with those who have served in multiple units becoming increasingly eclectic as they gather accolades. Adran masks tend to resemble armored masks or face-plates, or if the individual is an arcanist, incorporates their preferred form of destructive magics (e.g., fire, lightning, etc.)

Structure
The House is organized in a traditional feudal manner internally, making use of the Imperial rank structure. House Adra has an additional non-landowning title of Armiger, which carries the honorific “Sieur” and is granted to adult members of the House upon completing their Imperial Obligation. The House rank of an individual does not directly correlate to their service rank, as House Adra military command is fiercely meritocratic, jumped up commanders will be at best subverted by their subordinates or at worst deposed. Therefore House Adra’s Lord Commanders are veterans of multiple campaigns and have served in the line, proving their puissance and skill every step of the way, and it is not uncommon to see Dukes standing in the line, taking orders barked from Barons or Baronets.
