Izanami

Izanami has been one of the most widely worshipped goddesses of mankind with an unusually high amount of recognition. She is one of the progenitor gods who walked the world at it's beginning and with her then husband, Izanagi, she shepherded it's people in those times and created much of Nalchaa's rituals of burials and funerals. She was a deity without powers in life, but was able to bear divine children who became more than a dozen other gods until she bore Kagutsuchi, the god of flames, and burned to death. Post mortem her own abilities became clear and she became the goddess of death and has since been at the front of many important myths. Although lawful-evil Izanami rules over the Chaotic Evil Yokai Realm as it was the realm where she and other lost spirits went, swirling with emotion and crying with their rage. She tamed the domain enough to establish the order in death and the sorting of souls incorporating 4 lesser deities into the process. Upon returning to the material plane she was rejected by her husband, became a divisive point among other deities, and was seen as the minister of all mourners who flocked to her, now the death deity as well. In the centuries to come she lived up to that name and became a deadly warrior who would slay not only the unparalleled Devourer of Kingdoms but her former husband and countless more. Izanami maintained a very significant position of power for several millennia, climaxing in Nalchaa's unification war and her immediate downfall during the 1st Epoch betrayal a year later. She is yet still the goddess of death, even if the title is more symbolic in today's pantheon. At the foot of Nalchaa's northern mountains lies massive necropolis maintained by her faithful and built around her old throne on the material plane: Yomotsu Hirasaka
