Tengu

These winged people have a mastery over the winds and are allegedly descendants from a floating kingdom in the clouds where they lived with their creator Sakuya-Hime, the wind goddess. Ancestral Tengu were tall people known for their bright red skin and long bulbus proboscises. Such noses are seen as symbolic of power, heritage, and fertility amongst their kin though they are only found on about 10% of the population today due to unusually successful crossbreeding with humans, elves, and other humanoids. Those with shorter noses wear masks during ceremonies and holy days as well as in positions of office to show solidarity and dedication to kinship. Tengu who intermingled with kenku gave rise to the karasu tengu, raven-like humanoids who appear like larger kenku with full wings. Many kenku view these tengu with the awe of a prophesized hero. There are tengu purists who see more human-like tengu as inferior and see karasu tengu as beasts. Just as easily as one learns to grab using their hands tengu learn to direct the wind gusts using their wings.
Modern tengu have heights and physics similar to elvs while pure-blood and Karasu tengu stand closer to 7 feet tall with muscular bodies. Their eyes come in a variety of jewel tones and their hair is usually black or white, but may be blonde, red, or a rare sky blue. Their wing colors are, in ascending rarity: black, red, violet, blue, white, gold.
Tengu come in many alignments, rarely lawful-good if good at all. Red tengu usually are evil, lawful, or both.
Names are varied & may be as simple as an adjective + tengu. Sodainatengu, Tensaitengu, or Wakaitengu (magnificent, genius, and young, respectively).

• Tengu can only fly with a light load and light armor if any.
• Disguise: A tengu can magically hide her wings for 12 hours at a time. Once hidden they cannot be revealed & used again until the 12 hours is up. During this time her jump bonus is exchanged for a disguise bonus.
• Automatic Languages: Common and Auran. Bonus Languages: Sylvan, Draconic, Celestial, Elven, Abyssal, and Vanara.
