Crooked Mile Hand Grip
A Hand weapon is most valuable when the device is multi-puposed. The Crooked Mile Circle's hand weapon is a defensive solution. The secret society often confronts creatures and contagions that can kill them with claws or tentacles. Some nefarious security guards are easily provoked by investigations. The too respond violently. The worst offenders are militia members and criminals who routinely use brass knuckles.
The brass knuckle, a controversial and lethal weapon used offensively is not a Circle solution. It is only used by Circle Investigators for the most urgent situations. 1907 brass knuckles are made of cast brass. When the Circle designed their "hand grip," they asked for finger loops and knuckes and a identifying engraving. The ornamental blue gems that embedded in the grips provide protection not commonly seen. With a squeeze the gems become laser beams that can blind a combattent.
Crooked Mile Circle keeps accurate records concerning the need for the hand grips. Parts of the Fairelands and all of Crooked Mile banned the use of brass knuckles after the Six Years War ended. It didn't keep villains from using them, but it is a felon to carry them. If the need arises the Circle requires a limited use report. So far there has been no need for their knuckle use, but the beam has come in handy eleven times, particularly in the underground passageways where the light is dim, and the creatures are laying in wait. Directly aimed at the creature's eyes is used to blind and paralyze what causes deadly harm to the investigator.
