Melody Rice is a Crooked Mile local, who takes her reporting position seriously. If her reviews do not appeal to readers, she asks they contact her supervisor at the Gazette News, a flighty gentleman who doesn't take her seriously. It is likely her supervisor won't bother to discuss concerns and complaints with Melody. Nothing he says seems to go through her ear and out the other. Neither does his admonition take residence inside her brain matter.

Lightkeeper Theater

This theater is a community theater. It is the most decorated building in the valley. Locals are proud of their find, but no one can take credit for its construction after sections of the theater were moved to its location by barge during the Six Year War. It was originally built in an Otherwhere city that fell.   It was the first building in the valley to get electricity. So great was the demand by other merchants, they invested in the struggling mill nearby. Before the tunnel was built, the Mill produced socks it continues to sell, but its profit earning business is water generated electricity. Other areas of Crooked Mile still use gas lamps.   Community members use the theater for local play production. Crooked Mile’s one-room schoolhouse uses the theater to stage their productions and recitals in the theater too. Politicians use the theater. Community leaders use the theater to make announcements. But the theater is most attended by residents who come to watch silent films. The motion pictures that play in Newfaire are watched in Crooked Mile a year later, but it matters not. It is far less expensive to see a film during a second run.   Since the Periphery (police department) is not paid to provide safety after 8pm, only the theater is lit up later into the evening by special permission.
