Melody Rice is a Crooked Mile local, who takes her reporting position seriously. If her reviews do not appeal to readers, she asks they contact her supervisor at the Gazette News, a flighty gentleman who doesn't take her seriously. It is likely her supervisor won't bother to discuss concerns and complaints with Melody. Nothing he says seems to go through her ear and out the other. Neither does his admonition take residence inside her brain matter.

• The base of the Bridleborne Mountains is home to the sprawling Scarlet Wood, renowned for its massive red-leaved trees. The knots of Arctobetula rubrifolia have a striking resemblance to human eyes and contain a red sap that is hallucinogenic.
• The companies that log in this region are required to collect and dispose of sap. Redrunners use bribery, theft, or reclaiming to obtain sap from logging companies for scarlet production. The forest grows more dense as you near the mountainside, and those who dare to explore it after dark recount stories of sensing a presence and being pursued by the woodland creatures that inhabit the area.
• Timberway Camp Loggers dispatched a small team to initiate the clear-cutting of a new portion of the Scarlet Wood. They never made it back. The team was skewered and brutally murdered by the very trees they were trying to harvest.
• Whilewill is a small settlement of Fairens who reject electricity and live in the woods. Certain individuals are accused of sabotaging logging machinery.
• Trust's Clearing is a middle section of the forest where poisonous flowers thrive. The Timely Iris flowers are harvested by folk practitioners for remedies. Herbalists are currently experimenting with their blood-soaking properties.
• Trees of the Scarlet Wood produce a hallucinogenic sap. Scarlet libations are the foundation of a thriving bootlegging industry.
