The Drury Theater Emcee is an ardent sideshow producer. What he learned from working with the Circus he brings to the with him to the theater for good or nought. When the acts are sensational, he hires them to work in the Lounge that is often occupied by patrons with money. When the patrons are satisfied with sweet drinks, confections and the performance, they tip well. The emcee splits the tips “fairly.” He takes 80% and the performer gets the balance of 20%. Serpent charmers use a variety of methods to control their employers. Some use music, such as the piano’s C8, that is said to mimic the sound of a serpent’s most annoying hiss. While serpent charming is entertaining, it is also a dangerous practice. Abigail is a known felon. She’s venomous, and she bites whenever necessary. Abigail Slither is a nomad. She travels from city to city performing her concertos some nights and her honky tonk other nights, depending on the audience preference. The Gazette was excited to write a page 6 article about the star. She once concocted a serpent venom that can be used for defense. The serpent venom recipe was purchased by several secret societies during the Six Year War. The lovers of honky tonk fill the Drury Row Lounge every night as Abigail slithers into play. Those nights the Emcee hurriedly announces her act and leaves the stage. He is horrified by her presence and that she will keep her tips and eat him whole. In her case, he shares tips with her 50% to 50%. For the half and half take, she gives him a full 5 minutes to get out of her spotlight.
