Gloom Manor

Exterior

Gloom Manor is a grand, old manor house in disrepair, with spacious interiors adorned with dark wood paneling, large chandeliers, and elaborate rugs. The stone architecture is a sophisticated blend of faux-dwarven and elven styles, complete with molding and trim appropriated from the elven lands. The roof is made of aged, green copper, and the windows are large and adorned with ornate iron bars. Once a symbol of wealth and opulence, Gloom Manor is now old and dilapidated, with most of its furniture covered in dust and cobwebs. The walled yard is overgrown with vines and thorns, and the lawn is uncut and tall. The once-immaculate marble pathway leading to the house is now crumbled and overgrown, with iron gates barely visible through the thorny vines that cover it.

Backyard

Nestled atop a mountain overlooking the sprawling city of Vaneesh, Gloom Manor sits surrounded by a stone wall and vast, overgrown property. Though the yard boasts beautiful and expansive space, it has been left to the mercy of nature for some time, leaving much work to be done to reclaim it. The dark woods behind the house provide privacy and protection from curious eyes, while the open yard offers a clear view of any potential intruders. The manor itself boasts a stunning vista, inviting one to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Guest house

Nestled in the lush greenery of the manor's backyard, just beyond the western wing, stands a charming little guest house. With its crisp white exterior and two floors of spacious living quarters, this guest house has long served as a haven for visitors seeking a peaceful retreat. The first floor boasts a cozy sitting room and a fully-equipped kitchen, while the upper floor features a grand bedroom. It is worth noting that this guest house holds a rich history, serving as the site of the first blessed church of Peter Henry before its unfortunate destruction in A4 998.

Interior

Inside, the spacious interiors are filled with dark wood paneling, grand chandeliers, and luxurious yet dust-covered rugs with intricate designs. Every piece of furniture, dating back over a millennium to the year A4 984 or earlier, exudes a sense of history and refinement. However, the grandeur of Gloom Manor is now somewhat diminished, as most of the furniture is shrouded in cobwebs or covered by white sheets, and the once-majestic interiors are now coated in a thick layer of dust.

Downstairs

The lower level of Gloom Manor is characterized by expansive corridors and grandiose rooms on both the eastern and western sides. The western portion of the manor is primarily occupied by a lavish kitchen, a formal dining room, and a pantry, as well as a back porch entrance. The eastern wing boasts a stately library housing ancient, dust-covered volumes, and an adjacent sitting room suitable for both study and entertaining guests.

Upstairs

The grand lobby of Gloom Manor is a marvel to behold, with high ceilings that allow the light of the sun to dance across the walls through a stunning crystal chandelier. The staircase leading to the upper level is a work of art in itself, crafted from solid oak with intricate elven carvings on the railings. The upper floor of the manor contains six spacious bedrooms, divided equally on either side of the main hallway, as well as a cozy study and a balcony overlooking the breathtaking vistas of Vaneesh in the distance. At the end of the hallway lies the grand master bedroom, a luxurious retreat for the owner of Gloom Manor.

Basement laboratory

The basement laboratory of Gloom Manor is a vast, open space containing an ancient yet sophisticated and well-equipped laboratory that is capable of competing with the most modern setups of today. The laboratory is equipped with various tools and instruments for manipulating and analyzing the elemental components of Cruul, including measurement, weighing, mixing, and refining. Located within the laboratory is a large, 8-foot-wide and 10-foot-tall iron door, secured with three complex locking mechanisms that can only be unlocked with the possession of all three keys. Additionally, the walls of the laboratory are adorned with intricate carvings of magical writing, running from floor to ceiling, serving as a protective measure against magical scrying and other forms of intrusion.

Secret secondary lab

Upon opening the heavy iron door, one is greeted by a vault designed to protect sensitive materials and treasures. Within the vault lies a secret door, which, upon opening, reveals a set of wooden stairs leading down to a secret laboratory. The lab is filled with advanced technology and equipment, including beeping control panels and flashing buttons on the walls, as well as a large octagonal machine known as the Mega-Godamatron. The lab is also home to various tables cluttered with strange tools and unidentified instruments, as well as unexplainable alien technology. It is believed that this lab was created by Dr. Victor Von Gloom over 1016 years ago, in the early years of the third age (A3 984).

Secret cloning facility.

The underground cloning facility at Gloom Manor, hidden behind a secret door, was equipped with state-of-the-art alien technology that allowed it to grow up to 100 clones at a time. In addition to the cloning capabilities, the facility also contained an experimental ship that was capable of flight and could be launched from beneath the front lawn of the manor through the use of large bay doors in the ceiling of the facility. This was how Dr. Von Gloom was able to evade capture by the Legends of New Light when they finally caught up with him at the manor in A4 998.

History

Gloom Manor was built in A3 984, over a thousand years ago. It was commissioned by Victor Von Gloom as a vacation home in Vangash, but its true purpose was to serve as a cover for a secret laboratory and a convenient excuse for the doctor to covertly visit the scientist gnomes of Nervmawhbal mountain. These gnomes had recently shot down a magical flying object (MFO) and sought Von Gloom's assistance in studying the crashed alien craft. In order to keep this discovery to himself, Von Gloom rushed the construction of Gloom Manor, sparing no expense in its completion,   Over the past 1000 years, Gloom Manor has been sold numerous times to wealthy individuals, all of whom were, in reality, Victor Von Gloom using various aliases. Due to his ability to maintain a youthful appearance, he has been able to create new identities for himself using forged documents and long-held false identities, allowing him to accumulate real fortunes under these different identities. As a result, Gloom Manor has consistently remained in his possession, despite being passed on to different supposed owners.   Destruction n the year A4 998, Gloom Manor was almost entirely destroyed in an explosion caused by Victor Von Gloom using Eradiuum, a highly destructive material. The blast wiped out the entire city of Vaneesh and reduced Gloom Manor to rubble, with the exception of its secret laboratory, which was designed to function as a bomb shelter capable of withstanding even the most powerful of explosions. This laboratory remained operational for a short period of time after the initial explosion, and was only discovered by the Legends of New Light when they returned to confront Von Gloom. However, the doctor was able to evade capture and fled to Croom before he could be apprehended.
