In order of importance
Emperor – Empress:
Before Spearnia conquered much of the Lands of the Dragonborn, the two distinct draconic bloodlines had their own noble titles, in the case of the Chromatic their leader was named Emperor, the Arch prefix isn’t used, as Emperors come from a very specific red dragonborn bloodline.King – Queen:

As the title is not solely reserved for a specific bloodline, it is not uncommon for the arch prefix to be used. Princes are responsible for all the regions that are not being directly controlled by their King. Originally there where many princes, but with the demised form of the Vegly land there are only two, the Eastern and the Western Prince. Their holds are in the wealthiest and most central hold they control. Princes are responsible for the regions they oversee and do little more than making sure all goes well and be the voice of the King. The regions they tend to are controlled by a duke.Duke – Duchess:

Whenever a Lord is part of a pure draconic bloodline, the Arch prefix is added to a lord’s title. These lords generally enjoy a greater degree of servitude from their underlings, more political sway, a higher degree of nobility and better claim on whatever title they seek or hold. The Lord’s Steward:
The lords of the lands, Viscount and upward have generally speaking little time for menial manners and thusly they often assign a Steward to deal with the village(s) to alleviate their work.Addressing a Lord:
Whenever a Lord is addressed it should be accompanied with the appropriate amount of courtesy. Speaking when addressed, bowing until dismissed and addressing the lord with their title. The title “lord” is acceptable but when in an official setting the lord should be addressed with their title.Metallic lords in Chromatic lands and vice-verse:
Whenever push comes to shove, all the lord in a region, united by the Marquess are to serve the Duke of the region. Dragonborn in a region ruled by a lord of different type are expected to bear their own weight.Female Lords:
Lords in the Veglye province have traditionally been predominantly male but female lords are not unheard off, but fact that these ladies have been physically weaker – in any case with non-arch rulers – has forced them to adopt champions, bodyguards that serve to act when their lady would be at a disadvantage.Royal marriage:
A royal marriage can be formed for a large amount of reasons and can be formed between any colors of dragonborn, but it is generally preferred, especially when high purity bloodlines are involved that the marriage is conducted between similar colors. The offspring produced by such a marriage has an equal chance to be of either parents color, and an equal chance of becoming male or female. When a marriage is between different colors, the offspring will adopt the name of the parent with the matching name. If the marriage is between two similar colors, the gender determined which name will be adopted, sons will go to the father and daughters will go to the mother.Lesser titles:
Domain: A part of a titular domain which includes at least 1 town and 1 additional town or stronghold. Territory: Anything of interest the is part of a Domain, (Towns, forests, etc.) A lord will also have a title for any and all lesser domains and territories under their control, it is however customary to assign these to their lessers, if these domains are big enough, in that case they will be protectorate of X, where X is the full domain they granted to their lesser, this means that that lesser will be the protectorate of any domains and territories in that domain. The main objective of a protectorate is to oversee the goings-on and mediate any problematic affairs that might occur. The title of this protectorate is dependent on the domain granted:- Warden: Titular subdomains (county, dutchy, etc)
- Governor: Towns and Villages
- Admiral: Seas
- Keeper: Forests, Lakes, Mines and natural resources
So, the count who governs the lands in which the viscounty of spikesoar is located will have the title: Duke of Nordhall, Warden of spikesoar, Govenor of Nordhall, Palperroth and Romsey, and Admiral of the sea of Songs. The person who is assigned to a territory gains a title depending on the territory assigned:
And making the lord of spikesoar: The viscount of Spikesoar, Govenor of Spikesoar and Wingston, and Keeper of spikesoar forest (name pending)
- Mayor: Town or Village
- Gamekeeper: Forest
- Custodian: Lake
- Landlord: Estate
- Overseer: Mines or Natural Resources
- (Royal) Captain: Ship
Many titles:
When a lord has many titles, it is not uncommon for them to either assign these to their offspring and/or loyal companions, keeping the lion share of these for themselves, it is also not uncommon for territories to be assigned to these same individuals, sometime resulting in them losing their overseer. For example: The keeper and overseer of a mine.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
