The Age of Creation
The Work of the Prime Gods
Long before the rise of mankind, the Elder gods or even the first life, a Cosmic being, the one which we now call Augorax, created the earth we know today, be in in a primal shape. You might assume that this being created the earth as a place for life to flourish and grow, but then you would be mistaken, as its reasons where solely selfish.
Like many walking this earth today, Augorax was rather vain and saw itself as the most important thing in the world, and in recognition of its own greatness, created, from stellar dust, a flawed duplicate of itself. This new being became known as Cawelt. When Augorax noticed the flaws in his creation it tried to justify these errors, remolding it, but every iteration introduced new flaws and frustrated Augorax even more. Cawelt, initially submissive to its creator didn’t resist and allowed Augorax to have its way, for a while. There came a point, however when Augorax, it's frustrations boiling over after many failed attempts sought to wipe clean the slate and tried to destroy it. Cawelt, no longer Augorax’ lesser after many iterations, managed to defeat his creator and after maiming, binding and cursing it, threw it into the heavens, where it, still following Cawelt’s throw, flits among the start, lighting our lands. This is where our word for the Augor comes from.
No longer anyone’s puppet, Cawelt claimed his place among the stars, but his rule was only short-lived, as the fight with Augorax had left him wounded and weakened. This is where the second of our Prime Gods comes in, Slyduhl, who had been keeping an eye on the young Cawelt. And now seeing its opportunity offered his assistance, who according to our standards could be described as a brute, strong, powerful, but lacking in the mental region. Calwelt greedily accepted his offer, eager to get back to full strength and rule the universe and was send into a deep slumber. When, after many eons Cawelt woke up again, he found that he was unable to move, as his body had fused together during his long rest. Unable to move and filled with a universal rage which was directed towards the duplicitous Slyduhl, Cawelt bellowed a primal yell, which was powerful enough to shred the form of Slyduhl to pieces and scatter his essence all over existence. Unable to do much else, the shape of Cawelt, unmoved to this day, went to sleep once again, his dreams filled with anger, hate and sorrow.
This yell, which still echoed through existence until this day attracted another comic being, the one we know today as Dariël which eventually arrived at its source, the unmoving shape of Cawelt. Seeing an opportunity, Dariël feigned compassion and cared for the crippled Cawelt, and slowly, one step at the time started to infuse the shape of Cawelt with her own essence, under the guise of caring and promises of restoring his fused body. This continued for many eons, during which Cawelt came to depend on the care of Dariël, and eventually grew to love her. However during this time Slyduhl never went away, and seeing straight trough Dariël's veneer saw an opportunity too get on Cawelt's good side, whispered to Cawelt, bringing him the truth that Dariël in fact wasn't too concerned with his well-being. Cawelt, who now could see trough Dariël's facade became angry, both at Darël for deceiving him and at himself for being so blind. How could he, the most powerful being in existence, the slayer of Augorax, be treated like a statue standing on a square, being soiled by pigeons. An analogy which wouldn't made any sense at the time.
This anger, unlike the raw expression of power that shattered Slyduhl manifested itself as a scheme, one directed by Slyduhl. This scheme, resulted in Dariël becoming trapped inside of Cawelt’s unmoving shape and being slowly crushed under his enormous weight, with little beside Cawelt’s booming voice and the agony of the ever-increasing pressure. This torture kept going until, Slyduhl who had become the voice of reason in this emotional space proposed an idea that would appease both of them. Cawelt was unable to rule the universe he might settle for the next best thing, and as Dariël would be trapped forever otherwise, the two agreed. And made plans to create a space where miniscule beings could live and thrive, to be lorded over by Cawelt. This would required the aid of Dariël as Cawelt not Slyduhl possed the power to create life, which was happy to assist as the alternative was a existence of suffering.
And so the world came to be, Dariël and Cawelt got to work, like feverish gnomes they slaved away, tuning and creating the world, atop the unmoving Cawelt who became the foundation of this new existence, shaping the earth to accommodate this life and allowing Dariël to use her influence to create the essence that would eventually coalesce into beings of life, but at this time was little more than a primal energy that ravaged the still ardent lands, Dariël still trapped in the sheathing Cawelt.
With the rough outline of this new world set in stone, the two realized that although they were all powerful in their universe, this small scale rendered their powers near useless, as you can't make jewelry with a sledgehammer. And after a long time, spend contemplating how they should proceed, finer tools where created. These where the first races that would walk the earth, and took the shapes of the Sun, Moon and Dark Elves; the Grey, Mountain and Gold Dwarves; and the Giants, that still walk this earth, created from Dariël's the primal life energy and molded by the whims of the three Prime Gods.
To create the flora and fauna that would eventually cover the lands, Dariël created the elves, The Sun elves to herald it into existence, the Moon elves to watch over them while it lives and the Dark Elves to wipe clean the slate when Dariël deemed it to have served it's purpose.
The Giants, and the Dwarves in a later state, where created to be Cawelt’s pencils and brushes. He himself was the canvas, which was placed at the center of this new world, the Giants build the foundation from rough elemental energy. forming the rough outlines of the lands and the Dwarves build upon this foundation, moulding it's rough shape into one which matched Cawelt’s desires. The Grey Dwarves created the Cthonian abysses we know today as the Underdark, the Mountain Dwarves build the mountains and the Gold Dwarves spread the subterranean valuables we, mortals, value so much all around the domains of the other two Dwarves.
