Ireena Kolyana

The daughter of the late baron Kolyanovich of Barovia and sister of Ismark the Lesser, Ireena was a brave woman who is a part of something larger than she led on to be. Unbeknownst to her, she was the reincarnation of Strahd's greatest desire, Tatyana. Strahd, before he became a vampire, longed for the love of Tatyana. But Strahd's youth and spirit was gone from him after years and years of war, so her love was instead given to his younger brother Sergei. For more information about Tatyana, see Strahd's NPC page.
When the party first met Ireena, she said that herself, her brother, and her father were under incessant attacks and harassment from creatures of the night. Additionally, although unable to recall the event, a vampire had made advances on her and even drawn blood from her, proven by two fang marks on her neck. But when her father died of a heart attack, the harassment from Strahd's minions suddenly stopped. Fearing what would come next, she and her brother sought to flee the town that was shadowed by the ominous presence of Strahd and Ravenloft. But with the burgomaster dead, Ismark had to stay. Ismark asked the party to escort Ireena to Vallaki, paying them in advance.
Ireena's relations with the party began as business but began to blossom into a trusting friendship. But this growing friendship would be cut short by Strahd, who pressured the party into a dinner party at Ravenloft. It was here where Strahd charmed Ireena and firmly demanded for her to be released to him without resistance. Seeing no other option for survival and fearing the consequences, the party complied. The charming effect on Ireena wore away as she was escorted out of the dining hall, and she screamed and begged for the party's help, but her words fell on deaf ears.

The fate of Ireena is still unknown to the party, and with the discovery that Ireena was a reincarnation of Tatyana, one would think that Strahd had finally got what he wanted. But this seemed not to be the case, as shortly after was the massacre of Vallaki, where Strahd said that his suffering would be shared amongst all of Barovia. In another conversation, he blamed the party for "corrupting" Ireena/Tatyana's soul. What exactly he meant by this is not clear, but it is evident that Ireena was not the solution to Strahd's eternal torment.
