Appleron

Appleron was a small mountain town in the northern part of the Bohemian Republic that was famous for it's glass making, particularly the technique of producing Veined Crystal Scrying Glass. Unfortunately it disappeared from the face of the Earth hundreds of years ago during the crusades. After the artillery of the enemy got too close during one of the battles, the entire town was buried under a massive landslide, that went off due to all the cannon balls launched at the mountain in an attempt to curb down the guerrilla resistance. This was a massive tragedy not only for the people but also for glass making techniques as all of the crafts made there were lost. The town has not been rebuilt as the ground is still considered to be unstable, even though there have been attempts to excavate the site of Appleron for archaeological purposes.   From what the people know, this was quite an ordinary town that grew over time from various different settlements and little villages that sprang up in between the hills. Besides scrying glass, the manufacture of artificial jewellery and glassware was also popular. Those smaller settlements had several trade feuds over the first couple of decades, the first historical record of the name Appleron appeared in court records and involves a dispute over glass engraving that grew into a bar fight that rendered over 30 people injured. Eventually people realised that maybe working together might actually help them make more money from that glass making business thing, so those couple of settlements, through more alcohol and some marriages and then some more alcohol, slowly grew closer and closer together. In 1165 Appleron became town and got awarded many merchant rights, most importantly the right to organise big artisan markets. For about 300 hundred years the town slowly grew richer and became the center of all glass makers. The industry never quite recovered, despite all the modern technological and magical advances, from the lost of this settlement.
