Hysteria Epidemy

Given the very recent and very bloody war that the Republic went through before the state was established, mental issues are no longer a taboo. While the nation did emerge victorious despite all the losses and for the first time in history achieved independence, the sacrifice to get there was still too big and too raw for the majority of the people to handle it. Therefore, everybody is expected to be kind of messed up.   Nowadays, it is encouraged to share individual experiences with others associated with sadness, depression, grief and even the horrors of war and violent flashbacks. The practise to try to help war victims and their families is starting to get outside of the religious churches, the more traditional places for people to get any sort of psychological help one-on-one, and move to independent establishments dedicated to social or medical help. Some of these institutions are even run by the government.   What is not okay to talk about, by societal standards, are the mental issues on the opposite side of the problems mentioned before - such as mania or anything associated with high energy, delusions of grandeur, emotional overload or overstimulation in general. The stance of the society is that it is okay to suffer from pain, physical or mental, but anything other than that is not seen as "suffering" but one's inability to control themselves and behave like a proper adult. It is seen as a moral failure and not an illness deserving any sort of help. It is mocked in public and generally despised, because people who claim they suffer from these things are taking away the attention and help from others, who are "properly suffering". That's why, these sort of mental issues were put under an umbrella term of "Hysteria" and recent spike of people trying to advocate for such issues was dubbed in the press as "Hysteria Epidemic".   Not everybody of course is so judgemental, but generally speaking if you do not suffer from a mental issue that could be caused by war, it will be very hard for you to get help or any sort of public support. Therefore, mentally ill people are often left with no other choice but to keep these matters secret, in fear of alienating their family or loosing their careers. Which hurts them even more and could possibly escalate into real mental health crisis should the environment in the Republic not change.
