Legend of the Final Fall

"I see you, I see you not."

Legend of the Final Fall describes the only moment in the history of mankind, when God themselves decided to interfere in mortal matters and appeared on Earth in a material form. It was right after the final battle over Heaven, when a good portion of the rebellious angels were cast out for their transgressions and never allowed to return. According to the story, the First Among All Others refused to see this as a defeat and decided to wipe out humanity as a retort step - to completely destroy mortal life starting with God's most prized creation. Knowing why the Eternal War started, he believed that God would never go against their own rule of no immortal being ever appearing among mortals and therefore would be forced to watch in horror what he was about to do.   When the First landed upon Earth, he unleashed his flaming sword and went quickly of search of the nearest settlement, ready to get to business. While walking on the path towards the nearest houses he was confronted by a middle-aged man with a really cool beard and dark hair with silvery streaks, that despite being cut quite short, still managed to go everywhich direction, living its own best life, ignoring that there is literally no wind that would force them to behave in such a crazy way. This man talked calmly to the enraged angel and tried to convince him to lower his weapon because life is the most sacred of all things and needs to be protected and warning him, that he is about to commit a sin that cannot be forgiven. Despite him talking softly to the fallen angel, his voice carried over the entire nearby village. But the angel would not heed his advice and mercilessly stroke this man with his sword, hitting his head full force and gouging his right eye in the process.

Common Sayings Inspired by this Legend

Ouch My Eye!
Whenever something falls into your eye, it is viewed as an omen. And there are many fortune tellers willing to explain to you what awaits you, depending if a fallen lash scratched your eye or you've been attacked by a tiny fly.

Loosing one's eye.
A Pyrrhic victory.

Keeping an eye on someone.
Willing to go through fire for a friend.

I've found the Divine Eye!
Having an "Eureka!" kind of a moment.
And that was the final thing that gave away that this man is no ordinary man, for the fallen eye shone like a star - no longer being encased in a mortal shell and no longer being a part of an immortal being, it unleashed it's full power and banished the angel to the lowest levels of the Abyss. There he got impaled on mountains, forever being forced to watch and feel his mistake with every fiber of his immortal being. Then the God in a body of a mortal man addressed the rest of the descending furious angels, warning them that the same fate will await them, should they land upon the Earth, with all their glory, brandishing all their supernatural powers and wanting to unleash them upon mankind. The angels stopped their descend and eventually turned around and headed down, going to the lower spheres of reality in search of their fallen master.   And then man-God wept and the village wept with him. Clear tears staining his face on one side and blood trickling down the other. This was the first time God experienced pain - of losing a soul, the first soul they were not able to save. Still in their form of a human, they turned to the humans and guided them to always try to talk their way out of conflicts first, before turning to violence, and to look after each other, because now, thanks to the Hand of Evil, they won't be able to look after them all, like they always did. And as the people of the village went to embrace the injured man-God, they realised that they are holding only an old cloak and that the Divine spirit is gone and as they ascended back to Heavens, so did the light of the Divine Eye dimmed and the artefact was swallowed by the Earth.   From then on people believe that the Divine Eye shall appear whenever an intervention of the highest calibre is needed to protect mankind from harm and there are many subsequent legends featuring miracles granted through this holy relic, although no one really knows where it is now. The Legend of the Final Fall was also used as an explanation why God allows suffering and why evil things and injustice keep on happening - it's not because the God does not care, it's because they sacrificed a portion of their power to trap the Hand of Evil in the Abyss.   Although, after the horrific events of the Great War, the faith in church stories tends to diminish along with the faith in general.

Did I just turn Dimi into a god? Mayyyybe.

Anyways, if you missed the stream where he talks about his pirate backstory, here it is. The video starts at 9:59. And be warned! Contains a lot of marital adorableness xD

Czech This Out: I don't automatically recall a single very important Czech artefact that got lost, so I am going to bend this prompt a bit - Rudolf II., the subject of my new world, was extremely famous for having a giant collection of precious paintings, sculptures, scientific mechanisms, foreign oddities from India and countless jewels and precious stones and such. He was a BIG fan of pretty much anything and was willing to spend a lot of money on that. All of this - and Rudolf's library - got looted by Swedish army in 1648, including the Codex Gigas (aka the Satan's bible) which they are still refusing to give back xD The majority of all the treasures have been simply lost during the looting or sold after the looting or otherwise scattered into the whole wide world. Rest in pieces.
