LK3 Gunship
The LK3 “Lucky” gunship is the bread-and-butter of the AoH strike craft. Serving as transport, gunship, missile boat, CAS, and APC, the Lucky is used in almost every situation, and is possibly the most common piece of equipment in the entire Alliance arsenal
The Lucky comes in two parts: the cockpit and the cargo
The cockpit is pretty standard. It’s built like a terrestrial truck, with two seats and a series of controls. The reactor and batteries are much smaller than the “engine block” design would normally require, so the extra area is used for storage, often of missiles. It has an underslung repeating laser cannon, a pair of small missile launchers for any that are stored in the front, and a series of PD bubbles that line most available surfaces
In addition, the cockpit also has an extended flatbed with a gravatic attachment point that allows it to carry most any container (though it is much more secure with an official docking point on the container). It’s thrusters are powerful enough to carry extremely heavy cargos, but speed and maneuverability drop off dramatically if it’s trying to carry something too big. Multiple can work in tandem to carry heavy loads, but this is a relatively rare occurrence
The cargo part is extremely varied, but the most common one is an APC module (APCCM). This boxy container has seating for 13 average sized bipeds (usually 10 troopers, 2 passenger/spare, and a turret gunner), and a centralized area for either cargo or specialized seating for non-standard leg configurations. The module has a dual heavy laser cannon turret, 2 repeating laser guns mounted on pop-out portions of the wall, and 2 missile launchers that can either hold 4 anti-ship missiles or 20 smaller anti-vehicle/craft sized missiles (with room for reloads if some are brought as cargo). In combat, this module can be detached to operate as a hover APC, though it doesn’t have very good flight or speed capabilities.
Other common variants include a bomber module (which carries shipborn sized missiles, but saves space by using railguns to launch payloads instead of separately attached thrusters), a heavy attack module (which sacrifices cargo space for a second heavy turret), and a pure cargo module for carrying supplies only
Power Generation
Alliance reactor in the hood. Despite the large size of the "engine block", it's actually pretty small. Most of the area is used for cargo
Propulsion
Gravatic thrusters allow for both vacuum and atmospheric operations. Fast, but lacking in maneuverability options
Weapons & Armament
Twin micro missile launchers in the cockpit
Underslung laser repeater in cockpit
Heavy laser turret in APCCM
2x Door mounted laser repeaters in APCCM
2x heavy missile launchers in APCCM. Launchers carry 4 Anti-ship missiles or 20 micromissiles
Armor and defense
Star Foundries SKC grade energy shields
A plethora of Wahu Industries missile defense laser bubbles
It is extremely lacking in armor, though this gives it a greater amount of speed and maneuverabilty than something else it's size. It relies on its PD to avoid getting hit, and it's shields when it is
