Credsticks are the go-to payment form for any citizen in the neo-modern world. Found in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes - credsticks are the direct physical links to any bank account or stock portfolio in your arsenal. Using the local net, they can connect to electronically stored GECs from anywhere in Kunari City and immediately access them for use in transactions. Oftentimes, credsticks are individually provided by banking services - though universal credsticks also exist. Regardless of origin, all credstick transactions are logged in universal municipal records for cybersecurity and public safety reasons.
Your PIK is necessary for any credstick transaction to be authorized. Since credsticks are directly built into or connected to a user's cyberware and Personal Net Server, they can only be used by user's matching the logged PIK, so there's little risk of remote access by unwanted parties. Of course, no technology is perfect - some shifty netrunners and codebreakers can modify their PIKs temporarily or even create false PIKs, allowing for some degree of identity theft and fraud. However, the credstick is still far safer than any form of physical currency - and much easier too.
