Electronic Bodegas

Electronic Bodegas are the mondernized, updated versions of the vending machines of the past. They litter the plazas, shopping centers, and boulevards of Kunari City, and its suburbs, and act as the easiest way to buy any readily available good. These shops are unmanned and entirely mechanized, making them infinitely more efficient and more cost-effective than face-to-face alternatives that rely on low-skill wage labor and public decency. Purchases are simple, quick, and often limited to non-cash transactions that require the input of your Personal Identification Key and an identity scan. While the original intent was to increase security and allow for the tracing of suspicious purchases through a city-wide log, it's no secret that these logs are often sold to marketing firms and corporations so that they can entirely tailor advertisements on a personal basis.
These Electronic Bodegas are often owned by private franchisers, citizens of Kunari City who pay up-front costs for the construction and connection of the bodega as well as all of its running costs. In exchange, they are paid a cut of profits from the bodega's sales. They are responsible for restocking the bodega and for any logistical needs its operation may require. Unfortunately for any prospective business owners, these shops are rarely profitable for many franchise-owners are are seen as more of a false hope at entrepreneurship by their skeptics. 
There are various tech and commerce firms who build and deal with the overall operation of these bodegas. The code, network connection, and other software elements of these shops, in Kunari City, are handled entirely by one corporation, DataStorm. They are also responsible for maintaining purchase logs and transferring copies to Kunari City officials. The physical designs, UI, and maintenance of the bodegas is handled by one of three corporations: Rosta, Discount Den, or Last Minute. Rosta is independently owned while Discount Den is a subsidiary of VorTech and Last Minute is owned by QIQ. Depending on location, the goods available in each bodega will change drastically: some solely deal with prepackaged food and drink while others sell one-time use weapons and self-defense tools.
