History

Empyrean Systems was founded by venture capitalists Robert Aldrich and Gene Novak in 2052 - both of whom were seeking to fund medical research on improving physical and mental functions. Aldrich and Novak partnered with Balthazar Simmons, a leading biochemist and cyberware expert responsible for many of the leading technologies in cybernetic muscle and bone enhancements at the time. Initially, the company began with research in the fields of anatomy and altering the nature of proteins and enzymes within the body - before shifting to a greater focus on chemical research and magical augments.   By 2060, Empyrean Systems became a dominant force in the pharmaceutical field, acquiring various smaller manufacturers and monopolizing the production of many common drugs and supplements. Their success continued as they began to uncover new ways to alter chemical reactions with magical augmentation - allowing for the production of stronger, superior medications and supplements.   In 2089, Empyrean Systems released a series of supplements meant to increase tenacity and longevity in combat. Months later, the Inner-City Wars broke out, leading to massive profits for Empyrean. They then used these profits to acquire NSRx, a competing pharmaceutical manufacturer - and the developer of Emergen-C.   In 2101, Empyrean Systems acquired VorTECH in a 200 billion GEC deal. They rebranded their newly acquired subsidiary into Sequence - a new research corporation meant to spearhead research into gene-alteration and magical DNA augmentation.
