Captain Jackson R. Verducci

Jackson R. Verducci is best known as the Captain of the Twilight Rangers, the upholders of law in the Twilight Badlands. He rides one of the few remaining MechaRaptors and knows the Twilight Badlands like the back of his scarred hand. His admirers compare him to an Old West sheriff, bringing justice to the people. His enemies spit his name, and hope like hell they never meet him face to face to make good on their threats. Make no mistake, Jackson R Verducci is on the side of the law, but he's a dangerous man.

Personal history

Born in the Twilight Badlands, Jackson grew up among farmer folk. As a young teen, he and his best friend and blood-brother Paul were lured by the promise of wealth and prestige to work as drug runners for the Drug Barons. Their roles were varied - from looking out for the Twilight Rangers, to paying off border guards, to smuggling the drugs in by hiding them in empty cybertech pockets in their bodies. 
Jackson was 17 when Paul died of a massive overdose, a victim of a leaky plastic bag which leeched massive amounts of different drugs directly into his system without him even realising. He suffered a fatal stroke on the streets of lower Twilight City and was dead in moments. As he cried out for help for his friend, people merely walked past, either staring at their palmpods or looking away. Jackson left his friend in the gutter, and fled. 
For the next six months, Jackson simply went through the motions, blank eyed, making his drops and paying his bribes. But behind those empty eyes, he was thinking. No one stepped up to help Paul because they were inured to drug deaths in the streets. Lower Twilight City was a drug riddled mess, and he, Jackson, was part of the problem. Something had to change. 
On Jackson's next journey into the city, he dropped a package in the old mail tubes - digital wasn't safe, after all - to Police Commissioner Siobhan Chang. The next day it was all over the Sys - a stealth raid on the compound of the Drug Baron for whom Jackson worked had turned up not just massive stashes of product, but the books behind the whole operation. Dozens of dirty police men and border guards were revealed. Playbooks were released into public knowledge, rendering them obsolete.
That was the day that Jackson R. Verducci joined the Twilight Rangers. In the next decade he would excel, with a kind of fervour and uprightness that only exposure to criminals could produce. Now he captains the Twilight Rangers, hoping against hope that in the future, there will be no more Pauls, dying alone and scared on Twilight City's insatiable streets.
