The Combat Zone

Overview

Gangs are the absolute rulers of the Combat Zones. Moving between the slums, tenements, and ruins of abandoned city blocks, these gangs and their allies have divided up their territories, controlled the limited resources in the area, and killed anyone or anything that got in their way. There are no reconstruction projects going on in the Combat Zone, although sometimes corporate forces or the NCPD drop down on the area like a ton of ferrobrix and start killing the gangers wholesale, a process the city has compared to trimming back kudzu.

Since Night City was far too chaotic post-War to have a centralized City government, the Night City Council was made up of City Managers from the different districts and neighborhoods of NC, including the Combat Zones; though they had effectively no control over the gangs there.

The City Council considered these areas to have a threat level of "Combat", which basically meant it was one of the worst places in the city, where people died, and no one cleaned it up afterwards.
