Corporations rely on OrbitEdge to lift the cargo up the gravity well, and ultra-rich tourists  - to get to orbital hotel complexes. This is a lucrative position OrbitEdge would like to maintain. That's why a large part of covert action budgets is devoted to making sure the competition stays on the ground.
The company maintains a transfer hub in orbit (where passengers switch from spaceplanes to space transport shuttles) as well as orbital industrial platforms, and a couple of research and maintenance workstations. OrbitEdge is well-equipped, and has access to almost all levels of military tech. Primary focus is space defense and air-superiority weaponry to protect the assets.
