Araceli didn’t want to be a wizard. From the time she was merely a breezling, she had dreamed of the haunting voices on the wind. She longed to join the Genasi Wind Chorus but her parents both firm believers in The Great Current and had had her life planned out when she was barely a breath of fresh air. That’s how Celi had found herself at WindWillow Wizard Academy. Like most of her air genasi classmates, she had loathed the preparatory school with its rules and its walls.
However, when she saw her parents’ faces when she was accepted to Gale-a top four school-she had felt as light as a feather. She even received a small scholarship and then like most of her fellow students had unknowingly signed her life away to student loans and their rising interest rates.
Having recently graduated, Celi found herself loathe to jump into the life of a scholar. She found a job at the temp agency in order to travel and still make enough money to pay her student loans. She told her parents she had been accepted to the Wizards Without Borders program (which was actually true, though she had neglected to mention that she had turned down the opportunity in favor of a more lucrative and exciting- also dangerous- opportunity at the temp agency).
