The street gang known to many as the 99 PROBLEMS has gone from the streets to the information super-highway. According to sources at NETWATCH, the gang launched a series of cyber-attacks last week, targeting the Framework’s datacenters through Crescent City. While this did cause a disruption of service to many areas, notably all of DeSolee was offline for 2 days, NETWATCH has publicly announced that the weakness in the Framework’s net architecture has been corrected. Of greater interest perhaps is the fact that our sources at NETWATCH claim that this attack by the street gang was merely a distraction while the 99 Problems executed a more devious ploy. According to our sources, the 99 Problems installed a 13th Framer. The framers are the fairly well-known council of twelve artificial intelligences which keep the Framwork safe for daily users. This 13th Framer was designed to grant access to a secret layer of the Framework where the 99 Problems and other criminal organizations could conduct their business citywide and over a standard Agent without detection. This scheme, as well as the exploit used to create the connectivity outage, have been thwarted by NETWATCH. But this incident gives residents of Crescent City a valuable example of what to watch out for in the future.
