O'Neil One

O'Neil One is the biggest O'Neil cylinder in orbit. It was original created by ESA but Highriders on the facility revolted against the working conditions and declared their independence. Since 2019, O'Neil One is the first and only independent space nation recognized by Earth governments.

Government

O'Neil One if the first independent space nation and declared their independence in 2019 with the Highrider's Revolt. Since then, the station has been governed by a democratic system of O'Neil One Government, which is lead by the Commissioner and the Council of Elders. The Commissioner is an elected official, while the council is made up of the leaders from the different Highrider families in the colony. This council creates and enforces laws on the station. The Commissioner is the executive branch and runs the colony.

Architecture

O'Neil cylinders with alternating glass/living panels. O'Neil One is the largest of the O'Neil cylinders, being 30km long and 8km wide. The living panels consist of the exposed top floor allowing sunlight to help with growing food and oxygen. There are several subfloors containing manufacture, station systems, and living quarters.
