Session 1 Report

General Summary

Players received a job from Max Murlock to find out what happened to Lord Horatio Poole. Max Murlock was hired by Lady Nora Poole to find her husband. He met the players at the Iron Horse Bar and revealed to them he wasn't a real Private Investigator, but played one to pick up women, hence why he hired the players. The players accepted the job for 75GP each and set out to search for clues at Horatio's last known location, The Half-Pint Tavern in Middle Dura. On their trip to The Half-Pint Tavern the group came upon a Goblin Saleswoman who was selling "Ancient Alban Artifacts." Deducing two of the pots might be magical B-4127 bought the two pots. One was just a pot, the other was a Pot of Awakening. In addition the group came across a little girl who was tailing them. She had an Aberrant Tattoo around her neck. Splint tried to offer her rations but she ran away. Upon arriving at The Half-Pint Tavern B-4127 realized that his arch-nemesis , Officer Jimmy McNulty was the guard posted at the crime scene. Officer McNulty saw B-4127 and went to apprehend him but Splint stepped in and distracted the officer and gained access to The Half-Pint Tavern while B-4127 snuck around to an alley in the back. The characters investigated the bar and discovered one of the kidnappers was injured during the attack and that the kidnapped was in fact Horatio Poole. Around this time there was a changing of the guard and McNaulty went to search for B-4127 . In the alley the group found Bart the Beggar who stated that he saw the cultists who kept talking about how "Fear Reveals the Truth" and mentioning the "Shaper of Nightmares." In addition the Cultists dropped a Holy Symbol for an ancient God, "Sul Khatesh." The group heads to Clifftop where they suspected the kidnappers may have headed to because no-questions-asked healing could be found there due to the prevalence of the Organized Crime Family the Boromir Clan's activities in the area. To find information the group went to Dungan Roo, a florist and owner of the The Maisy Daisy Flower Store whom Splint saved from the Boromir Clan in the past. Dungan wants to put Splint in his debt so he was all too happy to help. He gave some information and gave B-4127 a bunch of roses. Following the new lead the group was accosted by two halfling gangsters, Lenny and Benny. The gangsters were trying to collect a debt from Max Murlock. The group beat the gangsters and Benny ran away while Lenny was arrested by the Sharn Watch. A woman named Gloria Meadows vouched for the group then took them to a toy shop where The Inventor told them to stop the ritual to sacrifice Lord Horatio Poole and offered them a lot of gold to do so, exactly two months rent. The group accepted and found Kalarel the Vile and three cultists about to sacrifice Lord Horatio Poole at The Korranor Theater in Clifftop. The group defeated Kalarel the Vile and the cultists, but it turned out that this was not the real Kalarel the Vile but an undead Thrall he was possessing. Upon the Thrall's death at the hands of Pax Kalarel the Vile's soul sprang forth from the viscera and proclaimed that the "Shaper of Nightmares" would see to the group's Doom and he would revel in their deaths. Lord Horatio Poole woke with Pax on him and B-4127 shaking him. He thanked the group and revealed he and his wife often try to kill each other. Max Murlock was nowhere to be seen at the meetup spot for payment and it's clear he has no intention of paying the group. The Inventor did pay as he promised and offered the group 20,000GP to retrieve a Corset with a mechanical Arm sewn to it, but the group must take his assistant with them and provide for her safety. Her name is Caitlin Bastik.
