The Spider

The Black Spider is an enigmatic figure whose sinister machinations set in motion the abduction of Gundren Rockseeker and the ensuing Quest for the Lost Mine of Phandelver.
Not much is known of the Black Spider: no one is sure who he really was, what his agenda was, or whether he acted in league with any allies beyond the Cragmaw Goblins and the Redbrands of Phandalin. 
Yet what is known is that he was a wizard who sought the magic and wealth of Phandelver for himself, and that in his final stand against the Heroes of Phandalin, he met his end.
