Grick

Gricks are large worm-like creatures that live away from sunlight. Their head is composed of a sharp beak surrounded by four tentacles.

Adventurer's Notes

Gricks are always hungry, but they're particularly lazy hunters. A grick prefers to drag its rubbery body to cracks and burrows where it can wait for food (also called Adventurers) to wander by. Their worm-like bodies blend all-too-well with the damp darkness of their cavern homes. If you can, keep yourself well-lit--bright light burns their sensitive cave-dweller eyes and when in doubt, run. Most gricks won't bother to follow.   Over time, grick lairs accumulate the cast-off possessions of intelligent prey, and expert guides know to look out for these telltale signs. Underdark explorers sometimes seal off the routes leading to and from a grick lair to starve them, then claim the wealth of the foul creatures’ victims.
