Halfling Families

Position in halfling society is determined by Families, superficially similar to the Noble House system used by Humans.
Halfling families often engage in friendly competition or rivalry, but rarely does one family actively harm another.
The oldest and wealthiest of Halfling families are the three Great Families, the Romeros, the Vallejos and the Sartori's. There are 38 families in total.
The Vallejos are Dinosaur Tamers. Sartori are shipwrights, Romeros are merchant lords. All three families cooperate when truly threatened, but bicker and engage in a sort of sibling rivalry at all times. Their emblems are all trichromatic, with each colour representing one of the houses. The colors are:
Gold (Money), Red (representing adventure, blood--Sartori) and purple (Family, Community -- Vallejos)
