Samaira

Udre'sar

"You are careless but you do realize that being the daughter of a god doesn't turn you immortal, right? You should take care of your body as it's the only one you'll have." scolded Mae.
"But what is my purpose then, if not to push what we know about magic and learn new things to help the world?" replied Samaira.

Samaira is a daughter of a god, who was raised by the Shanan family and worked together Eris Shanan (before her death) to recover the Kit'de'thrak, focusing on the Dragsar branch, and recovering it's temple (that both her and Eris Shanan found together), the Skreori temple.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Samaira looks mostly human in nature. She has the typical four arms, dark skin, and curly brown hair that reaches her shoulders which she likes to dye it partially red. What differentiates her from Humans, are her bright golden eyes, with a star-like shape as iris rather than the normal circular one; and the six golden gems that are on top of her eyebrows. She loves to put on some makeup and paint her nails golden, to fit with her golden gems, and giving her a bit more of a goddess appearance.

Identifying Characteristics

If one were to look closely on her, one could see scars and magical side effects, hidden under illusion spells and makeup. Her golden eyes and brown eyebrows, while originally where these colours, are now both white; consequence of a failing research of curing blindness and other eye related conditions. A thin deep violet warps around her left arm, a gift from the forces of nature telling her she cannot tether a dimension under her power. Lots of other small, more hidden scars cover her body, from other magical failures. Fortunately for her, it seems she is exempt of getting a Sig'sith or other conditions related to pushing one's magical limits.

Her body is also covered in runes and magical tattoos. She did them to experiment and learn, but while many of them don't even work anymore, some are plenty useful for her, such as her back tattoo, which allows her to make wings made of mana which allow her to fly (she's very proud of this tattoo, since it was considered something impossible to do if one wasn't born with wings).

Apparel & Accessories

She likes dressing in flowy open clothes, most of her clothes are dresses with open backs and lacking sleeves. Red clothes with golden details are her favourite, but she also likes to wear white and black clothes. Jewellery isn't her favourite to wear, but she is constantly seen with a necklace of sort, that rather than connect, it just rests on her collarbone and both ends end with a small ornamental dragon head.

Personal history

Samaira's oldest memory is from the Shanan family, living with them, growing with the kids of the previous king of Eshines, Etzel Shanan. Mae Shanan, the oldest of the siblings, took care of everyone when the parents where busy with royalty things she (at that time at least) didn't understand. Eris Shanan and her were the two more curious kids and spent a lot of time together learning things and making each other questions; Zembu Rhas, kind Etzel's right hand and archmage, helped both kids to learn a lot, and he inspired Samaira to experiment with her magic as much as she could, while making sure she was to hurt no one. Everyone was nice to Samaira, maybe a little too much, but Kin'rah and Eris; Eris for being her friend and Kin'rah seemed to hate her, but she wouldn't learn the reason until much later.

While she lived in the house with the Shanan, she was given the best educations, same as her siblings (she considered Etzel's kids to be her siblings, as well as Etzel and his wife to be her parents). She excelled on magic, as everyone expected, but was bad with physical training and combat. It was during her learnings where she started researching and pushing her magic, ignoring all the warnings the whole family gave her. After some years, she surrendered (temporally as she tried convincing herself) trying to find a cure of eye-related conditions.

Responsabilities

Samaira only knows that she's the daughter of a god, she doesn't know her limits, if there's any, or if she will die of old age or not. All is a mystery, so she likes to live as good as she can. She also feels responsable for the destiny of the Skreori temple since she helped Eris Shanan find it and wants to see it become something important so that all the hard work of Eris doesn't end up in nothing. She also feels like she's forced to help the magical progress of the world push forward, as, so far, she hasn't find out her magical limits and thinks there's no limits because her bloodline.

When Eris and her were both of age (the Shanan family just assumed Sam would be of age at the same time as her dragon siblings), they left together the house to go explore and learn more about the Kit'de'thrak organization they had learnt about thanks to some old texts that Zembu lend them. It took them some years, but they managed to find the Skreori temple, of the Dragsar branch. It was on a horrible state, time had made the building inhabitable and the place was in a cold island where one could die easily of hypothermia during night time.

Both of them, with help of the king, got a group of workers, which they brought to the island while leaving the path a mystery to the workers, and quickly, they fixed the temple enough to have a place constantly warm and some places to sleep. The rebuild of the temple took years but it had a halt when most the Shanan family was murdered. Samaira sent the workers back to their houses and the temple's progress was halted for a long time. She hid herself on the temple's library, trying to find a way of reviving people, failing to find anything about it.

In a desperate attempt, Sam tried tethering part of an external realm (which she had no idea what was it exactly, she only found traces of its existence) but the magic went wild, causing her to fail and obtain a violet scar all over her left arm. After that, she spent some weeks doing nothing, hiding in the temple, seeing her food slowly running out without having energy to go buy more. Thankfully, Kin'rah Shanan appeared in the island, wounded but ignoring their wounds, the first thing they did was slapping Sam and cursing her for doing nothing while Zembu Rhas, Leviaat Krat, and them were running for their lives.

Having Kin'rah around made the air tense, but they kept making Sam do things. Clean that bookshelf, make sure the runes are properly working, small tasks that she was more than able to do, to keep her moving around, being active. Sam learned that Kin'rah didn't really hate her, but they were half jealous of her magical potential, how much attention she got from their family, and despised how careless she was with her body and limits. Sam realized for the first time that everyone on that family worked hard to be strong, to survive, while she had it easy with magic. They must all felt as she felt when failing constantly at learning self defence with physical weapons.

Sam was grateful that Kin'rah was around because they managed to get her out of the depressive pit she felt into after her family died. If Kin'rah was pushing forward to help their friends and stay alive, Sam shouldn't do less than that as well. Kin'rah spent a lot of time in the library, researching something they didn't tell Sam; Sam decided to search for information about the Kit'de'thrak and (after asking for consent) used Kin'rah as a test subject for the rituals and oaths that the organization used to have. Sooner than later, Sam had learn a lot about the organization and started bringing people to the temple, to make them join the new Dragsar branch of the Kit'de'thrak, in order to find all the lost knowledge not only in this temple but also in the other 4 lost temples.

Kin'rah took a couple of years to finish their research, during which they also helped the temple. They showed the research to Sam, it was a ritual to connect two people's lifespans, using magic and runes. This was the closest thing to immortality ever found in the world, and it only allowed short lifespan people to have longer lifespan. Both of them deemed this to be dangerous to share and kept it a secret between them two, but Kin'rah told her that she would perform the ritual with Zembu; they wanted to keep him alive so he could testify about the murder of the king Etzel.

After Kin'rah left, the temple, while more populated, it felt lonely. She had some apprentices because of the organization but tried to hid from most of them since they questioned a lot and barely gave her free time. She befriended one of the soldiers that had started working on the temple, his name was Ikena and he joined because he knew Eris before she died and wanted to learn why she was so passionate about this project of her. Sam asked him to be her bodyguard whenever she had to leave the island, claiming she didn't know how to defend herself (and while it was true with weapons, she was more than okay with magic) but in true, she just didn't want to feel alone again.

While walking around the temple, she once found an unfamiliar face, someone who wasn't part of the Dragsar yet walked around as if he was the owner of the place even though no one seemed to notice him. Sam approached the man, he was a strange one and couldn't fit him in any of the Ithakill species; a stranger in the temple's walls are a danger and thus they have to be dealt with. The man, as he spoke, made Sam froze. He spoke through his mouth yet she heard him both with her ears and her mind; yet the thing that staggered Sam more was that he claimed to be her father, and thus, a god.

Both of them talked for the whole day. Sam was reluctant to share any information with the claimed god, both because the nature of the temple and because if he's really her father, he left her all her life. While Sam ended up sure he was a god, she didn't like him, he was too careless, which ironically was what made Kin'rah not like her. Since the first meeting, he sometimes appear, talks with Sam a bit and even sometimes helps with the temple.

When her temple was at least half rebuilt, Kin'rah contacted with her after not talking with each other for decades. Kin'rah claimed that there was a wyvern that was working on rebuild the Kartkash temple of the Guidersar branch, and that he would need some help, after what Kin'rah saw. Sam left her temple quickly, going to the place that Kin'rah told her. There, she meet Raku and Jana Kertha and officially made them join the Kit'de'thrak, following the old customs; then, she proclaimed Raku to be the Udre'sar of the Guidersar. It took many discussion, but she also managed to make Raku accept some help and when she was back to her temple, she sent Raku a group of workers to start rebuilding the temple.

Nowadays, she mainly focus on recovering the knowledge of the library on the Skreori temple while leaves Ikena to organizate the rebuilding of the temple. From time to time, she checks on Raku and his temple, and Kin'rah visits from time to time to make sure she's okay, but Kin'rah is always busy and thus never stays for too long.

Relationships

The Shanan family was her true family, even if it wasn't the biological one. She thought of Mae and Sephaime of her mothers; Etzel was a cold father but had a warm heart. Never got too close to Zhann Shanan or Leviaat Krat as they focused a lot on combat rather than magic and she was uncomfortable with weapons. Eris was her best friend, and Hauntu inspired her to get better in healing. She always thought Kin'rah hated her, so she tried avoiding them. Nowadays, she and Kin'rah, while don't consider each other friends, they trust each other.

Zembu Rhas was Sam's magical teacher, he showed her all he could as well as to read and write in multiple languages. Because Sam learned fast, Zembu quickly showed her to research and to learn on her own and brought her all the books she asked. While she hasn't spoke with him since the Shanan family was murdered, she hopes he's doing fine and she sometimes gets news from him from Kin'rah, since he specifically asked to not be given the location to the Skreori temple as he didn't want to be involved.

Ikena is Sam's new best friend, and while he cannot replace Eris, Sam loves to have him around. Ikena was sent to the military from a young age, and never got an opportunity to go to school and learn, but Sam is more than happy to help him learn all he wishes and he's loving to learn new things, specially after he learned to write and learn.

Raku is doing all he can, he never asked to be the Udre'sar of the Guidersar, but as the only person in the world (at least known) that lived in a temple, his knowledge was more than necessary. She's seeing how all the pressure and stress is eating him from the inside, and how he is only pushing forwards because it feels like an obligation to him, so she's doing all she can to send help to his temple to relieve his workload.

Aww, Sam's had a bit of a tough time, hasn't she? It's interesting that she is (was?) careless with her magic and nded up with so many scars, but I think that it makes her interesting. I'm not surprised she doesn't like her (supposed) father.

I guess all Shanan family had a tough time. She's still careless with her magic and is probably still getting new scars!
