Raku
Udre'sar
"You say you remember the fall of the Kartkash temple? But that happened so long ago that people don't remember where the temple even is anymore." questioned Jana Kertha.
"I didn't even understand it myself until I recovered my dad's journal." answered Raku.
Raku is a Wyvern who lived the end of the Kartkash temple and is now working to recover the temple and its old organization glory with help of Jana Kertha and the Dragsar. They are know to be god touched, which allowed him to still be alive after the fall of the temple millenniums ago albeit he swears all the time progressed with him not realizing, as he escaped with another person.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Raku scales are light brown coloured, with some spots being darker, such as his snout or his wings. He has big horns that curve forwards and upwards from the top of his head. His eyes are yellow with a black scleroses. His scales are slightly bigger than norm, which some people consider to be because he's from old times, it makes a bit harder to find clothes that don't get torn apart. The big scales can mostly be seen in his thick tail and the back of his head. His wings, as like all Wyverns, are merged with the back of his arms. Since he doesn't usually use them, they are fairly weak and barely allows him to fly.
Apparel & Accessories
He enjoys clothes that aren't too baggy, which tends to be a problem since his scales tend to break clothes when they are too close together. Most of the clothes he's got are from places that don't have a big wyvern population, so since he escaped the temple, he had to learn to sew so he could adapt clothes he and his dad bought to fit his body. Most changes to his clothes tend to be on the arms and the back of the shirt, making openings to be able to fit the shirts with his winged arms.
After all the expeditions he worked at, he got used to wear armor as people kept telling him to gear some in case there were accidents. He carries some small magnets that aren't too strong that he uses to make sure the clothes are adjusted to his arms, by attaching a magnet at each end of the sleeves. After a couple of incidents, he managed to get a good amount of small magnets that are strong enough to keep his clothes together even through the membrane of his wings but not strong enough to hurt his wings even after using them for many hours.
Specialized Equipment
He has a couple of items he has found on the Kartkash temple that are useful in a couple of ways. They both are small items that can fit in a bag or in a pocket.
One of them is a metallic sphere that is coloured in colorful pinks, purples and blues. This sphere can shine in a natural light or in its colours light, it can hover on top of the person that activated it, and it can even create a smoke screen that can fill a small room of around 5m2.
The other item is a small translucid blue crystal that, when looking through it, one can see magical traces, allowing him to see traps, runes, enchants, etc. He usually lets Jana use the crystal, as it helps her see the markings on the temple. It also helps whoever is looking through it understand the general feeling of Res'ink texts, at least what magic it is talking about, as the language itself is able to keep some magic in its letters.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Raku was born in the Kartkash temple, inside the Guidersar organization, from Ket'a'sar parents. He grew up helping his parents with their work but always admired the Tenrutuer. His parents managed to help him learn to write and read by asking favours to friends and aquantainces (as they didn't know how to read or write themselves.
As he grew up, he got his own jobs to do as a Ket'a'sar and spent all his time trying to learn from Tenrutuer.
As he was about to turn into an adult, he was accepted to join the Tenrutuer and his ceremony was to happen in a couple of weeks, together with some other people. A week before the ceremony, a small army found the temple and started killing everyone they found.
Raku and his dad managed to escape from the massacre and started going to the closest town, which required them to sail to the closest island that was a few days of sailing away. When they reached the harbour, they waited for a bit, hoping some other survivors would appear, but only one person appeared and Raku's dad was reluctant to have him travel with them as he didn't recognize him. In the end, the stranger travelled with them. These days that they spent sailing were horrible, the stranger had a bit of food and water, but it was nowhere enough for three people.
When they reached the closest town, the townfolk talked weird and their clothes looked off. The stranger left the duo and they never saw him again. It took Raku and his dad a couple of days to realize they were somehow in the future, and a few months later. Both of them decided to ignore the time skip and wanted to adapt. Raku quickly found a job as an explorer since his knowledge of the old languages were really helpful in many explorations in south of Amex.
A few years later, a contact of Raku found him a job to go explore a place that it supposedly had an old ruin. Raku wasn't sure if he should get the job, but his contact managed to convince him. Belanor Heleris was the leader of the expedition and claimed to have found an old Dracolis temple, which got Raku's attention. They had to sail for somedays to an uncharted island.
When the expedition team reached the place, Raku immediately recognized it, but said nothing. One of the other members of the team, Jana Kertha, seemed to see hidden sigils that only Kit'de'thrak were supposed to see. Jana and Raku started spending time together, exploring the temple while the rest were focused on checking the stability of the whole place and cleaning the rooms of old skeletons and wild animals that moved in.
The state of the temple destroyed Raku. It was filled with skeletons of Kit'de'thrak and enemy soldiers. Some rooms where destroyed, others where occupied by wild animals. When Raku found the entrance to the library of the temple, it was sealed. Jana and him spend a few days trying to open the sealed door, and when they managed to open it, it broke Raku even more. The library seemed to be preserved in time, but there were many more skeletons of Kit'de'thrak, and after gathering some information, both of them learnt that they died of inanition, after the foreign army sieged them and trapped them in the library.
Raku forced the expedition team to leave the island, but made Jana stay with him. Since then, he managed to made the expedition team lose all navigation charts that lead them to the island where the temple was and started cleaning the place of skeletons. It took too long, it exhausted him a lot more than he expected, but Jana was there constantly to help and it helped him keep pushing forward.
The first time he went back to the town he sailed from, he discovered his dad died in a job accident. In between his father stuff, he found out his dad's journal, where he learned that the stranger he met as kid was a god and it was the cause they weren't in their proper time.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
He wants to restablish the temple to its old glory for some different motives. He feels guilty of abandoning the temple when it was attacked, although he understands that he wouldn't have been able to change anything and that the temple would had its knowledge stolen by expeditions such as Belanor Heleris' expedition. Part of him desires the temple to recover as part of his duty as a citizen of the temple and he shares the ideal that all the knowledge on the temple must be carefully protected as it is dangerous to let it fall onto the wrong hands.
Udre'sar
As he contacted with Samaira, the Udre'sar of the Dragsar, he was given the title of Udre'sar and thus, all responsibilites of the temple fell onto him more officially, and more strongly than he felt them when only he and Jana were working on the temple. He promptly spent a couple of weeks reading all information he could find (or that Samaira gave him) about the rules, responsabilities, and all a Udre'sar should know.
With the title, Samaira also send him some people to help him to at least clean the temple and make it habitable again. Raku originally refused the help, but after a long talk with Samaira, he accepted the help but only to clean the temple, he didn't want help on the libraries duties yet, claiming the books would be fine if they are left alone a bit more and he didn't need the stress of dealing with the temple and the library at the same time with such a small team.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Jana Kertha is a Human that he meet on Belanor Heleris' expedition. She stayed with him to fix the temple and he accepted the help since she was a descendant of a Kit'de'thrak and was able to read the hidden texts in the temple with the help of a ritual her family had been learning since it escaped somehow the temple they lived in. She has been a pillar for Raku, as she had been always there, helping him keep pushing forward and always had an ear to hear him whenever he needed to rant about anything.
Samaira claims to be the daughter of a god, which was supported by the previous king of Eshines and thus everyone trusts it. Raku doesn't enjoy to deal with more gods or whatever might be related to them, but Samaira is great help and knows a lot more than him, so he doesn't mind too much having to talk with her. The temple she has under her power has been discovered before his, and thus has progressed much more into the goal of recovering the glory, albeit both of them are still very far from their objective. But because her temple is more "discovered", she knows much more about everything that's needed and that help is very much appreciated. She keeps talking about people she'd like him to meet, but these people always end up being "busy".
Hobbies & Pets
While most animals have been taken out the temple, Raku allowed some animals that were inoffensive to stay but prepared a room only for them. He originally wanted to take all animals out the temple, but Jana felt horrible making all these animals lose their homes and asked Raku to give them some space so they can leave whenever they want if seeing more and more people scare them.
Jana has grown to love these critters, even gave some names, but Raku still doesn't want them. Jana claims that she has seen Raku taking care of the animals and talking to them as if they were his pets a bunch of times, but he denies it all the time.
Burden & Health
Even though both Jana also says the temple's future is her burden, Raku tries to make her change her mind, claiming it is his burden as an old inhabitant of it. After getting the official title from Samaira, his personality changed slightly. He started being a bit more cold, trying to ignore all feelings and do everything with the brain rather than the heart. He also started depending less and less of Jana as his mental health's anchor. He acts serious and heartless, but Jana has heard him break into tears from the burden he tries to carry alone many times, which hurts her as he doesn't let her help him, claiming he's more than fine.
He started sacrificing some sleep time to try to learn more and more about the temple and its needs while also controlling everything happening in the temple, from the cleaning (to make sure all is priscine) to the rebuilding (to make sure it is as he remembers). The team Samaira sent to help him doesn't enjoy working with him too much, albeit love working with Jana.
I love him, and I am sad he has become colder and more closed off as he tries to handle his burden. :(
