Ayori earn this title when the previous leader of the Faith, Sun seeds., died in a weird accident that convince him is part of the prophecy about the return of the arcane magic. 
When he step up, he start a speech of hate and contempt against other races, except the dwarves. This spread as a wild fire, he gain a lot of followers and the Faith became the most important faction in the minotaur politics.
Ayori seek the help from the school of Yesterday, minotaurs historians, his plan is to know all about the prophecy and hide it from others. He became obsessed with this and eventually with the monument in the ancient elven lands, a monument that was modified by the church itself to represent the Sun god symbol, but all the knowledge about what it before that was lost when the elves and the arcane magic where eradicated from the world.
Many years pass without any indication about the prophecy or something about the monument, until a couple of days that the desert froze! 
That is the first sign, at least the most clear one, about the start of the prophecy. 
Ayori, confused, mad and afraid, order the legions to kill all "youngs" from humans, gnomes and the "civilized" saurian in a region near the desert. Then he order to murder dwarves and extend the killing to a more large region. No one understand this, no one want to understand it but the massacre, the pain change all forever.
