Mana
Mana is an imaginary metric, that's a quite popular word for approximating how much magical energy one can expend before becoming tired (suffering so called Mana Deprivation). It is not an observable, nor quantifyable thing - it's something we use to explain something we observe yet cannot prove.
The more Mana someone has, the more spells they can cast before running out of it. Mana recharges when the body rests. Certain spells cost more mana than others, so we categorize them into spell levels based on how much they take. We seem to be able to grow our Mana, much like we can grow our muscles. Mana doesn't just seem like a single metric, it's been observed to be rather inflexible, where casting low level spells might also consume more Mana than needed if we've casted too many low-level spells.
