Paladin
The Paladin title is given to those who devote themselves to an oath or purpose and become Mages through their strong sense of devotion or belief. It is quite often that Paladins come from a religious background that gain their powers for a divine mission.
Requirements
Becoming a Mage through will, the ability to smite.
Appointment
Paladins are not appointed, the title is given honorarily to those that display these powers. They often wield some sort of radiant aura that makes them easy to feel out.
Responsibilities
Staying true to their oath.
Benefits
Magical power and strength.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
There have been cases of Paladins losing their powers. There is a derogatory term used for them, which is "oathbreaker", but it's not encouraged to call them so. Many believe that Paladins also might lose their power if they finish their mission, which is why calling former Paladins names could be considered a minor crime in certain settlements.
History
The first ever case of a Paladin was, Alena Pal-Adin, the title's name originated from her last name.
