Soul

In the world of Dali'en, Souls are an extension of one's self. They are part of us, and leave our bodies in the moment we die. The departed Souls then enter the Ethereal Plane where they wander aimlessly until they fade away. Through resurrection Magic we are able to pull the Soul into its body, the more powerful the spell, the more strongly faded Souls we can grab. Through Necromancy we can create Souls to put into foreign bodies, but also severing their connection to their original Soul while doing so.
Having a Soul is what separates us from monsters. Monsters we believe are creatures born without Souls. Unless it's a Monster, a Soul cannot live without a body, and a body cannot live without a Soul. However a being is only gone forever once their Soul is gone.

Manifestation

Souls cannot be seen in the mortal realm, however they can be inspected through the Ethereal Plane, and have been described looking mostly exactly like their former bodies.
