Triangle Formation
Theorized during the Age of Civilization, the Triangle Formation takes advantage of the large open space the Surface provides (instead of the cramped tunnels of the underground). The troops in formation are given Spears or other weapons with longer reach.
This formation is primarily used against exceptionally large, singular, melee threats - for example a rampaging monster or beast approaching a settlement.
Composition
Tactics
The troops form a triangle shape, with one of the sides facing the target. As the target approaches, the triangle slowly splits into two sides, trying to impale it from a roughly 45 degree angle. This is done so the troops avoid getting crushed by the larger enemy. The last vertex of the triangle is tasked with finishing the target by trying to hit the weak spots (usually the head) of the slowed down, halted, or wounded foe.
