The Y'dak

The Great Desert of Caer Thalion dominates the kingdom from the XX mountains in the west to the Fertile Coast in the east. Primarily made up of endless sand dunes and cracked salt flats, pockets of fertile land fed by oases provide the only refuge from the sun's unforgiving heat. These small islands of life in the golden sea of death are viciously guarded by various tribes of the desert natives, who depend on the game attracted to the oases for survival. Only the oases that serve as established stops on the kingdom's trade roads are considered "fair game", and they are protected either by kingdom soldiers or clansmen hired by the kingdom.
