Alotaqa

Alotaqa are medium-sized foxes with an Elemental power. They can be found all over Dankar and have long coloured streaks on their fur to distinguish them from normal foxes.
Of all the animals in Dankar, Alotaqa are one of the more sentient animals, showing high emotional intelligence and are quite self-aware. However, they are less sentient than humanoids.

Location

Alotaqa are usually found in places that have their Element as a resource. These tend to be isolated places, where Alotaqa live alone. However, in recent years, they have been found in busy city centres, eating the leftovers that people throw away. It is not known why they have made a new home in the cities. Although they are often found alone, on sunny days, a pack of Alotaqa can be found playing with each other in parks and beaches. In the winter months, the Alotaqa that do not leave the city live in warm garages and workshops.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Alotaqa are white foxes with thicker fur, distinguishing them from normal foxes. In the summer, they shed their fur to ensure they don't overheat. They have long coloured streaks on their fur, which correspond to the colour of their Element. This is different from humanoid species, who only have one colour for any Elemental power.
Unlike most animals, Alotaqa also have Elemental powers, although they can only hold one. Many academics and scholars have tried to understand why they are one of the only animals with any power, but there is no definitive answer yet.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Like most foxes, Alotaqa will eat the prey they have hunted down. However, they also eat things related to their Element, but usually as a snack.

Behaviour

Alotaqa are known for being very playful and active mammals, despite the fact they tend to live alone. In the city, they love to chase each other and explore shops and people's houses. While they are quite respectful of people's spaces, there have been many complaints of them breaking objects.
Because they are so playful, Alotaqa make good pets, if they choose to be one. However, this is uncommon because some people are allergic to their fur.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Alotaqa are known for their sensitive noses, giving them a great sense of smell. Academics think their noses can be used to find other animals from many species, not just by their smell, but by their soul's energy. This knowledge brought back the theory that every animal and humanoid has an aura, based off their soul.
They also have whiskers on their face, allowing them to sense their environment and detect any motion nearby.

Powers

Alotaqa can only hold one Elemental power, the one they are born with. Their power doesn't manifest in the same way as humanoids, due to differences in anatomy and a lack of hands. Instead, they express their power via Elemental Mimicry, which tends to happen when the Alotaqa is angry. The first stage of Mimicry is when the coloured streaks on the Alotaqa's fur begins to glow. Depending on their power, the streaks can be dangerous to touch. The second stage is when the Alotaqa's entire body starts to glow and turn into their Element. At this point, it is advised to stay away, especially if they are a Pyro Alotaqa.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

An Alotaqa's coloured streaks are related to their Element: Pyro (red), Hydro (blue), Magma (orange), Terra (maroon), Aero (grey) and Fulgo (purple). The streaks create a pattern that is unique to each one.

Legends

Alotaqa are seen as a good omen by many people. While they mainly play with other animals, it is thought that if an Alotaqa chooses to play with a person, then that person will experience many good things that day. Some people believe this is shown in the streaks surrounding their eyes, which show that the person will have tears of joy.
