The First Stories are the stories told to the children of Dankar about its past. There are plenty of these stories that span thousands of years. They are then passed down throughout the generations to inspire and to awe many children for years to come. Children are also encouraged to write their own stories, so that their children can sing about their feats in the future.
No-one knows whether they are true or the stuff of legends. One thing is for sure - the stories told are enjoyed by all, no matter their race or creed.
Time of Day
Usually, the First Stories are told in the evenings, when the family is gathered together. However, people can tell the stories any time they like, and to whoever they like. Parents often tell some stories to their young children when in bed. Most notably, many military and fighting organisations will recount a tale or two of a hero's feats in the morning, or before they go on a mission, to instill morale into their crew.
Types of Stories
Most of the stories involve brave adventurers and heroes who have defied all odds and achieved their goals. These stories are used to inspire young children and adults alike.
There are also stories warning people about the dangers of the outside world. They are used to scare people or to keep them away from certain areas. Interestingly, governmental organisations and people with things to hide tend to use them to ward off curious folk.
Cultural Differences
Most of these stories are told orally, as a way to connect with the family or the neighbourhood. However, some cultures like to write their stories down, while others prefer to sing songs about the heroes of old.
