Llŷr, Lord of the Watery Deeps
Old Llŷr is the ancient god of the sea, fickle and tyrannical. In ancient times, he ruled the northern seas from his massive underwater hall. Tricked an imprisoned by the hero Euroswydd, he waits in a prison deep in an ocean cavern, the haunt of tentacled horrors and massive sea-beasts. If Llŷr is ever released, he will surely exact a terrible vengeance on the sons of Euroswydd and all those who conspired with him to lock the god in his deep prison.
Llŷr is as terrible to behold as an angry sea. Usually he takes the form of an old but extremely powerful man; his beard and unkempt locks are blue-green, crusted with salt and tangled with seaweed, his body is crusted with barnacles and coral, and his eyes glow with the fierce fire of molten gold. But in his wrath he takes on the shape of the sea itself--or rather the sea takes on the shape of the god, shattering ships and coastal towns that have failed to satisfy his fickle whims.
Because of his violence and unpredictability, Llŷr is feared rather than worshiped. Still, in ages past, tyrannical kings dwelling in coastal regions or relying on the sea for raids made great sacrifices to him in hopes that he would favor their ravages of other coastal lands. And indeed it is said that, if Llŷr favors any, he would most favor those who share his tyrannical outlook and lust for destruction. Even in his imprisonment, the northern seas continue to churn with his rages. What will happen if he is released is anyone's guess.

Tenets of Faith
Llŷr demands nothing but absolute obedience to his ever-changing will. All who would cross his domain, or live in proximity to it, must honor him with sacrifice or face his wrath. Even strict adherence to the god's demands carry no guarantee that he would not, to gratify a whim, annihilate even those who are most devout to do his bidding. For while the god brooks no defiance to his tyrannical demands, above all he hates a slavish devotion and the arrogance of those who believe themselves safe from his wrath just because they have gratified his desires.
A secret priesthood working for the release of Llŷr is rumored to exist somewhere in the Eriuish Sea.
