Mnemosyne (Constellation)

Visible from the eastern edge of human-controlled space, Mnemosyne is a constellation containing Sol, the home solar system of humanity. This constellation of six stars outlines the hourglass figure of a woman, but its significance is not in its appearance. Mnemosyne was the ancient titaness of memory, and ever since The Razing of Earth, humanity has never forgotten her homeland. Songs of distant Earth still ring through the air of a thousand worlds as humanity pines for the seas and mountains and forests of her ancestors.

Geography

Mnemosyne consists of six stars, all of which fall within the grasp of the Nyxian Machina. The constellation serves as an embodiment of humanity's memory of her lost homeland.

Fauna & Flora

Despite The Razing of Earth, it is likely that humanity's home planet retains its tremendous biological diversity, and while the other five stars certainly host planets, most of the life there was likely seeded from Earth during the early expansion age.

Natural Resources

Aside from the usual wealth of volatiles that any Earthlike world possesses, Earth likely still has a great many buried ruins from before the fall. This poses not only an archeological and anthropological treasure, but also potentially offers holy relics to crusaders and Astrians, alike.   While the other worlds likely offer the usual mineralogical and volitile riches of Earth, none possess the historical and religious significance. Thus they are merely other worlds to conquer or strategic positions to hold and not a coveted prize in and of themselves.

History

Of the six star systems in Mnemosyne, Sol holds the only history widely remembered. This was the birth place of humanity and the pale blue marble in The sky to which people looked for centuries during the age of colonization. Since its fall to the Nyxian Machina, it has been the ultimate goal of every crusade against the machines.

Tourism

No tourism exists to Mnemosyne, unless one counts the occasional crusade to retake the homeland of humanity.
