There was a HUB connect in Eastspace that kept them on pace with developments throughout the known. However, no matter how connected a place is there are always going to be little advancements in tech that you had to go to a place to get. Trading posts on Cabot usually had not only new tech specs but the actual practical models and prototypes. These were much more valuable as the designs were often incomplete or flawed but a working model could be broken down and studied for re-engineering. Chance’s was one such trading post on Cabot located near the dark end of the trading basin. The top half of the building was a pretty spartan looking operation with only two working fabricators and a HUB connect with subpar data transmission rates. But the bunker beneath held far better gear for frequent and, more importantly, trusted customers.
Owned by Abi Chance, who inherited it from her grand mother, the Chance is one of the best tech dealers on the black market. Not only is she able to fabricate the weapons and pre-test them to sift out the bad designs but Chance is a pretty good engineer in her own right and often can improve and FIX design flaws herself.
She keeps the high end illegal items hidden below the shop, leaving the top floor as a false front, where legitimate goods are dealt.
Below is a high tech testing range and a "mind your own business" rule when visiting and one may run into rivals at the shooting range. Though Chance usually does not allow such meeting to take place.
