Rek Ha Khameti
TIMELESS MIND
More than ten thousand cycles before the Trial of Cassad, the great civilization of Kemet flourished on the banks of the Nile River, near the equator of the human homeworld Earth. As part of its machinations, it developed a secret society charged with the maintenance of secret knowledge and protecting mankind from things beyond their understanding, bound together by the practice of Kemetic Mind Science, or rek ha khameti in the native tongue of Kemet called mdw ntr or “medu neter.” Organized into warriors (the most plentiful), scribes (fewer), monks or shamans (fewer still), priests (less than a thousand) and oracles (less than a hundred), this order had methods of developing vast extra normal abilities in its members including pyrokinesis, telekinesis, telepathy, divination, limited teleportation, abjuration, limited necromancy, enchantment and transmutation. Through colonization and other societies, the secret practitioners of Rek Ha Khameti stood inviolate as kingdoms rose and empire fell. When Cornelius Cassidy led people into the stars, the high priests of Rek Ha Khameti made sure that they had people on board. As the Cassidy power structure became the Cassads, so did Rek Ha Khameti grow in size by a factor of five from their presence on the homeworld. Living on the fringes of society, they observed the work of the Cassads until Empress Claudia came to power. The oracles of Rek Ha Khameti watched with concern as she developed powers beyond the normal technology of the Cassads. Finally, the order chose a warrior named Sekhmet Ma’at and a priest named Djehuti Ka Ptah to infiltrate the Imperial Palace and either come to an agreement … or end the Cassad line forever. The exact content of that conversation is unknown, but Empress Claudia came to an understanding with Djehuti Ka Ptah while his colleague Sekhment Ma’at non-lethally disabled hundreds of Claudia’s most elite guards. The details were that there would be information sharing between the Bright Empire and Rek Ha Khameti, that the Cassads would not keep certain types of information or artifacts, and that Rek Ha Khameti would not oppose the Cassads in the operation or expansion of their empire. Within seconds of this agreement being reached, Ka Ptah and Ma’at disappeared from the palace, never to be seen again in the Known, despite many efforts of Claudia and her Djeli. The next known practitioner of Rek Ha Khameti seen in the Known was the Kemetic monk Nebhu Ka Heru Khuti, who appeared on the museum world Thrappali to intersect with counterintelligence agent Nikole Asana.created by Hannibal Tabu
“I am a descendant of an order of shamans that have maintained Rek Ha Khameti, or Khametic Mind Science, since long before the dark ages, before the Cassads, before humanity found its way into space. As a Khametic shaman, I have access to all brands of information …” — Nebhu Ka Heru Khuti
